Default GTM VQ35 Connecting Rod Set vs Carrillo Pro-SA

Currently sourcing parts for my build. Goals are about 450-500whp but want to make the car a little bit more rev happy.

The GTM weighs 480g and rated at 200 HP while the Carillo's are 517g and rated at 200 HP also.

Does anyone favour one over the other. The carillo are slighty cheaper also.

Assuming they are the same strength (probably not), lighter would be better because there is less rotational weight.

For a 450-500 whp, I believe that the GTM rods will be sufficiently strong. I'm using a GTM shortblock for a 700+ whp build that is in progress. I assume they are the GTM rods...

If you want crazy HP, the Carillos probably will be stronger. Before going with those, however, I would look at Eagle rods. Eagle indicates they are good up to a 1500 HP build.

As luck would have it, I have some for sale if you are interested:

The bearing seats in my Eagle rods have been machined by South Florida Crank and Machine to be more consistent accross the 6 rods than when they come off the shelf. They are ready for immediate install and IMO are better than new. South Florida Crank and Machine are very meticulous. They almost exclusively deal with race motors and know their ****. Indeed, they build race motors for a number of well known racing teams.

Not after crazy HP as just want it for the street and some track work. I was leaning towards the GTM's due to their weight. These will be matched with the Wiseco pistons that I have currently ordered. The reason I went with the wiseco was they were a bit lighter, 8.8 comp and pre-coated so hopefully I can run a slightly tighter piston to bore clearance.

Eagles I decided against beacuse of the additional weight. I have a thread open with weights that I have found and just keep addiing to it when I find more info.

Does anyone know who makes the GTM rods for GTM?

The GTM rods with the Wiseco pistons will be a very nice setup. Good choices.
