Finally the build has started. Overview and some Questions
Well the time has come. Have owned my car since 2003 and has been boosted for most of its life. First with a HKS SC and in the last couple of years the HKS ST kit.
I have finally sourced a full long block and parts on the way from Z1 auto. Below is the list of parts that I have chosen or still in the decision making process. My main purpose of this thread is to get information to aid in the build like clearances, torque specs, tips and the like.
Original install thread:
My main goals are a nice responsive motor with obviously more power than the car is making at the moment.
RPM: ~7500
HP: < 550 whp
Current supporting mods:
Haltech Platinum with wide band, PE 510’s, Fuel pump, nismo twin plate, amuse exhaust, EBC, 50mm Waste Gate, Oil Cooler (I understand that the PE’s may not be able to sustain the additional HP)
Parts:
Wiseco Pistons – Ordered
Carrillo Pro-SA – Ordered
Camshafts – Have no idea at the moment
JWT Valve Springs
HKS Metal Head Gaskets
ARP L19’s
ARP Mains
Rev-Up Oil Pump
ACL Bearings
OEM Water Pump
Full OEM Gasket Kit
Fuel Pressure Adapter
Fuel Pressure Regulator
OEM Rear Main Seal
Fluid Damper
OEM valve stem seals
Upgraded intercooler
Prep Work:
Mild porting of the heads. Probably more of a cleanup then shape change
Typical block preparation, balancing, boring with torque plate
Questions:
When weighing pistons and rods what accuracy is required. Ie: within 1gram, 0.1 gram etc
What piston to wall clearance required for the Wiseco’s (tried emailing through their website but never get a response)
If running in excess of 12psi is there a recommendation of different tolerances for the ACL bearings besides what is listed on their website.
ARP torque specs 90-95 ft/lbs for the L19 and 60-65ft/lbs for the Mains. Is this still the consensus
The ARP specs specify to re-torque after a period of time. Does anyone actually do this as there is a fair bit of work involved.
Is anyone doing any mods to the crank to aid in oil flow

Is this the Z1 in NY or GA? Just curious about shipping all the way to Australia... It's not built yet - you're doing that locally right? That sounds reasonable. The folks at Z1 might be able to chime in with answers to your questions... Looks like a decent build list - presumably you are doing a .02 overbore?

0.02 over bore which is the 96mm pistons.
I was initally going to buy a short block from IPP but the AU to US dollar dropped through the floor so started hunting locally for a engine. After I bought the engine the dollar went back up. Go figure. Least this way it is a full long block so allows a bit more freedom with installation timing etc.
Shipping from US to AU is actually not to bad usually. Depends on the sender and if they have accounts with the right providers.

Just so there isn't any confusion, we're supplying parts to Mike, we're not sending him an assembled engine
