What is everyone running FI getting for EGT's??
My exhaust gas temp seems to run high......1300-1400 deg with basic hard street driving and well into 1600 and above on the track. Do Z's tend to run high????? I'm only pushing 6-7 psi right now but with the new GTM motor and turbo I plan to run 12-15 after engine break-in. Is water-meth in my future for safety???? Thanks for the feedback. (03Z, GTM build with 8.8:1, and STS turbo).
Exhaust temperatures will vary depending on the location of the EGT probe, so answers may not be directly comparable. Have you had the car dyno tuned to ensure ignition timing is optimal?
From what I read there is ~200degree difference between tapping near the manifold and tapping after the turbos.
Mine is tapped after the turbos (top of the down pipe) and I see 1000-1300 between cruising and getting on it.
I think 1600+ is excessive in either case.

I have Dual EGT's tapped into the Ceramic Coated Greddy Manifolds.
I regularly see 1400 degree's, but this past weekend at a time attack I pegged both of them at 1600 degrees for about 4 laps.

It is my understanding that the hottest place will be the manifold collector/turbine inlet, since that is where the exhaust gasses combine. I don't have any experience with the Z, but on my Miata I have a probe tapped into the turbine inlet right above the flange and I see ~1400 on the expressway (the gears are short so expressway means 4000-4100 rpm). At full throttle/full boost I see about 1600. I find that it is quite hard to get useful data out of the EGT without being able to datalog since it's hard to watch the gauge that closely at full throttle/full boost! I was going to hook up a signal conditioner so that I could get a 0-5V output for datalogging but I never got around to it.
