Default Long delivery, should i worry?

So i ordered a turbo kit, from a reputable dealer(dont want to name drop incase its nothing), and its been three weeks since I got the invoice and the turbo hasn`t shipped yet. Says they are waiting on parts... however i do not know how it has taken so long. I ordered parts from import parts pro and they came the next week( i live in canada). They guys have been really good to work with, Should I be worried or just keep patient?

Three weeks is not a big deal. Give them time, but keep on them about it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Hard to say without knowing what vendor it was. GTM tends to run slightly behind, or so it seems from what I have read. Were you told that the item was in stock when you ordered it? Is it possible that the vendor you ordered from is waiting on a part from a third party that is slowing things down? What is the usual ship time with clearing customs from this vendor or this part of the US?

Did you get confirmation that everything was in stock?
^If not, then you are in a pinch..

As suggested, I would be following up on a reg..

They said that they had everything but they turbo and the waste gates. The parts are all in the US and haven't been shipped up yet. I haven't ordered from this particular vendor before so i don't know the time it takes for their stuff to clear customs. If i don't hear anything in the next few days i will send off another email.

Yea, im in calgary... was the cowtown that obvious haha

Who is the vendor again? GTM? Again, if you didnt ask if it was in stock thats your bad..

If your not satisfied cancel and order from another vendor.. This time ask if its in stock..

with the way things have turned out around here with shops lately.. its kind of hard to just trust people on parts and kits with no establishment behind them

the delay should depend on the kit i think... if you ordered a greddy kit then it must not have been in stock at the vendor or their greddy supplier so they are waiting for it.

if you ordered a shop built kit like GTM or SFR or SP then i would expect a decent wait because those types of kits come in far too many configurations to stock all of them... they need to be partially or completely built to order... for example; if these shops stocked every turbo that fits their kit they would have 100 grand in turbos laying around while they expire in technology and value. and different turbo and wastegate options will depend on different hoses and coupler sizes and fittings etc etc.

but always make sure that you can get ahold of anyone who owes you a lot of money or parts and keep an eye on things... if i was in your shoes i would check every 3-5 days with what the status is and probably even ask to start shipping some of the parts since its likely it wont all fit in one big box in the end anyway. and if you went that route make sure an keep good records of what has and has not been shipped by inventorying things are they arrive... to save yourself the confusion or frustration if there is a disagreement on what has already been shipped.

@ Boosted probe

I checked out your thread a while ago, but the set up of the particular turbo i chose was more to what i feel was right for my car.

@ JayZ

Vendor is not GTM, I prefer to not say the vendors name encase shipping is just taking forever and its not their fault.

@ phunk

They are waiting for a turbo/waste gate option. I am just confused over the whole thing. I mean i ordered parts from Import parts pro, granted they had them in stock but they arrived within 6 days(including a weekend, and passing threw customs), I'm just confused how it takes so long to send a turbo from a manufacturer to a shop. You know?

Kyle @ IPP is the BEST at customer service. I ordered some small parts from him a while back and got confirmation and tracking #'s right away and then e followed up with an e-mail to make sure I was satisfied. That is how you retain customers

Does everyone in Canada have the ability to tear their cars apart, or is it just that the winters are so long you have to find something to do with the time

Not everyone, but i think it has something to do with the winter giving you a lot of free time to work on vehicles. Last winter we took my buddies land cruiser, swapped out the gas engine, put in a diesel...then on top of that put into a turbo and fabbed most of the parts we needed.

The winters here are interesting... I live in calgary which means we get winter about 5 times a year. It just snowed a week ago, all the snow is pretty much gone now but its -8. But the weather channel says by next thursday its supposed to be +6C.

Haha that is awesome, nice of you to notice. It is true the dam winter is too long, so you need to find something to do. I took the insurance of my car already, we have snow on the ground and the temperatures are well below freezing.
