Default What's the difference between GReddy Twin Turbo's 18g or 20g????

I understand the 20g are bigger turbo's than the 18g, but what are the power differences? Im looking for mid 400 whp as a daily driver, not looking to go over the limits, ya know.

The 18g kit is the the one you want for that power level, of the two kits that you mentioned.

The 18G's will provide faster spoolup than the 20G's. In other words, the 18G's will have less turbo lag.

The 18G's will get you well north of 600 whp with the right build.

The 20G's probably will get you north of 800 whp, and maybe north of 900 whp, with the right build.

So, for a mid-400 whp daily driver, the answer is the 18G TT kit. Even with those you will have a lot of room for future hp increases.

The 20G Tuner kit comes with a lot of things you may want, so we usually suggest the 20G tuner kit. For instance, if you pick up the 18G complete kit, you end up with an emanage blue, and smallish 440xx injectors that you don't need/want. I prefer the 20G tuner which has a larger intercooler, complete downpipes/cat deletes, and remotely mounted external wastegates with dump tubes and no EMS or fuel components. These are things you don't get, or would need to pay extra for on the 18G complete kit.

+1, the difference is price is well worth the updated wastegate location, downpipes, and intercooler

Those are some very nice upgrades.

Thank You for everyone being nice to me on this thread haha. Dam i was really going to just get the 18g until Sharif@Forged just mentioned that. Ok so should i just think about a single turbo kit, like turbonetics or APS? Thanks everything everyone said has been real helpful

Stay away from the tn kit and the aps kit. Greddy TT kit (w/ fmic) will make the power you want very easily (with exhaust and tune). I'm fairly sure TN kit takes some pretty good mods just to make 400whp.

I'd recommend searching though, this has been discussed a trillion times.

I think what Sharif was saying is that he believes the 20G kit is a good value because of all of the extras included in the kit. If you want to do an apples-to-apples comparison, get the price of another kit, and add to that price any of the extras provided in the Greddy that are not included in the other kit.

Also, compare the torque curves of the different kits. One person may prefer the torque curve of twin turbos, while another person may prefer the torque curve of a larger single turbo. Twin turbos seem to be more popular for our platform from what I can tell.

Also, there are a number of other turbo kits out there other than Greddy, APS and Turbonetics. If you have not already done so, please review the following thread. It discusses some of the different kits.

Careful.... questions like that lead to this

If you are 100% sure you will never build the block an want to add some specific supporting mods (or already have injectors and RFS) then an APS Tuner kit may work. I would say TN Single only if cost is the main factor in your decision.

When doing a project like you are considering, don't forget to include the cost of all the small ancillary mods as they will add up to real money by the time you are done.

turbonetics no longer makes turbo kits at all, so don't expect much post sale support if things go wrong

aps's post sale support is also nearly non existant, and their parts in general are quite scarce nowadays

If I have the DE engine and going for ~400whp then the only kit I would consider is POWERLAB STG1 kit.

PowerLab will get you 400+whp easy.

op have you considered a JWT 530bb? Thats got tons of low end torque (from the dyno graphs ive seen) and is perfect for around 400whp. Plus the turbos are water cooled

I thought that as well, I guess it would depend on if he was planning the install himself? Or if he has a JWT authorized deal near him? Thats the way i would go if I was planning to stay stock block. I still to this day wish I stayed stock block with the 530bb kit everything just worked so well
