Good luck with that...I've been waiting on that myself for quite some time, if only so I no longer get the obnoxious rattle of the vortech blower.

BTW, Vortechs do come with a CARB number, though with all the mods I've done with mine I will definitely fail CARB smog testing in California...

Is it confirmed that no manufacture will make a S/C kit for the HR ?
Dont feel bad. The same reason SC kits dont fit is the same one your engine breathes well

Yeah its a shame HKS won't launch the larger compressor. They used it on there ZC500 car and made 500 hp, but it was just a prototype apparently.

Wow this is the first thing that Ive seen that is reasonable since coming over from 240sx land. Things are so expensive for Z and make no damn power compared to the money spent. I'm happy to see Hong Kong Supermarket loosen up a bit.

In comparison to the Vortech, it seems as if it is not as versatile in terms of upgradability. Is this true?

The fact that it HAS to be installed by an HKS Certified shop kind of kills the price drop for me. I would prefer to do the installation and save myself around 1k.

Because of this, I would probably still choose a Vortech over it.

Maybe Resolute is correct in that it doesn't HAVE to be installed by an HKS dealer, maybe they just won't warranty it or give it carb exemption.

You are correct in that the vortech is far more upgradeable ( and more powerful ) but the HKS does seem far better made.

And the HKS Rotrex blowers are much quieter...that's why I was interested in the Kraftwerks SC for the 350z; it also runs with the Rotrex blowers...

My tuner has a Kraftwerks kit for his S2000...it almost dosen't even sound like it's there...

Interesting that HKS won't launch it for the Z, but Active Autowerks can use the GTS 8550 in their new supercharger kits for the M3.

looking forward to to see other competitors (vortech) lower their prices that much.. just like everyone else said, i'd take vortech over HKS.

You can install the kit yourself, you just wont get the warranty. I wonder if the GTS8550 is directly interchangable with the smaller compressor?

wow, that's a good price. Hmm. wonder about the cost for the revup kit (japan special order--yen to dollar conversion--probably still the same price on HKSJapan website?)--which is what I had to order, then customized to fit my G coupe by GTM.

My guess is HKSUSA still has a good stock of the complete non-revup kits and wants to move them.

For the doubters out there, I think I'm at the limits of the the GT-SC. Peak boost for me is ~13 psi and numbers are about 410 whp/425 lbs. trq after latest tune and idler pulley bolt upgrade/replacement. This is the GTM Stage 5 kit btw on a revup m/t with vpro/afk/cosworth plenum/nismo headers/PE HFCS/AMUSE R1 exhaust, etc.

Hey Jonny, are you running cams and headwork at all, or is it all stock block with bolt-ons?

a recent dyno showing improvement over a past tune:

I have a dynojet dyno as well, that was done right after initial install and tune (before improvement) that showed 400whp and 415trq.

Awesome. I only want to make 500 at the crank so with cams this should be achievable. Even if i'm a bit short i'll be happy.

The new price is reflected on our website. Our webmaster was running a little bit behind on that.

Thanks
