Default Crank pulleys

I am currently running the UR underdrive crank pulley. I want to take it off but what should I replace it with...

Stock
Fluidampr
Ati super damper

Stock would be free, and put some money back in my pocket if I sell the UR set.

Both the Fluidampr and Ati will cost approx 350. Is there a benefit to one over the other? I read reviews on both and they seem very comparable.

I have the Fluiddampr ...... I used to have the UR ... But it caused some crank damage. Stock is better than that UR.

either Fluidampr or Ati super damper. Both are quality parts. If you are not running FI, I would just stick with stock though.

+1 on ATI for no other reason than price. Thats what I am using.

The only other difference is that the ATI is almost 1" bigger diamter than stock so you will overdrive everything. Not sure if that matters but you will have to spend about 50$ extra on new ac and alt belts. But you can get a stock sized fluiddampr

Is your motor built? ATI is my personal preference - very quality piece. And yes, it does require new belts.

I think it depends on which ATI you get. They have multiple part #'s. Mine is significantly underdriven vs stock (more than any other pulley out there IIRC)

Fluidamprs are equally nice pieces...different design, as it's all welded together, vs the ATI which is modular and bolts together. I've never run into issues using either one. Uses stock belts as mentioned.

Ya, mine is def overdrive. same part # as IP sells. See ho close it is to the idler.

But the removeable crank damperner is nice becuase you can replace it.

gotcha - happen to remember the belt #'s you're using? That might help compare yours to mine

especially with a FI setup, you definitely want some form of dampening. The UD, undampened pulley will just put undue stress on your main bearings. Stock would be better, with either the ATI/fluidampr being the best option. I ran a fluidampr for 3 seasons on the eclipse with no issues. It definitely dampened the crank vibrations much better than the rubber dampened stock pulley. Also, just like one of the above posters, I have broken the stock damper a couple of times haha.

47" belt but i am not using that extra idler that is part of the stock setup

YOu must have the same one #918588
http://www.atiracing.com/products/da.../damnissan.htm

becuase the other ones are not for the street. its a 6.8" OD compared to the 5.8" OD for stock. However, the AC is going to be VERY underdriven with the ATI bc its AC pulley is much smaller (2" or so) than stock (just like you mention in your post)

gotcha - I still use the factory setup, didn't delete anything, so it wouldn't really help us compare

I spent some time researching the Internet on both the Fluidampr and the ATI super damper, not limiting the search to the VQ platform. Based on that research I was torn between the two, but eventually selected the ATI super damper.

I am not saying that the ATI is better, but overall I found fewer negative comments related to the ATI super damper at the time I did the research. But, who knows, you have to take most things published on the Internet with a grain of salt. Fluidampr's web site presents what seems to be very good reasoning behind their design. In fact, after reviewing both the ATI ahd Fluidampr websites, I was leaning toward the Fluidampr. On the other hand, I came accross some negative thoughts on the Fluidampr by people who supposidly had used both the Fluidampr an the ATI. These posts may be complete BS, I don't know, but it did sway my decision.

Nonetheless, you probably can't go wrong with either one. One person's subjective analysis may strike home to you while another's does not, but it is hard to know who is being honest and who has an alterior motive, or is just plane biased.

ATI all the way. I have seen issues when using the Fluidampr. Can't blame the Fluidampr 100% but the problem went away when we took it off. No other changes whatsoever.

I bought an ATI from GTM and it has been fine--only issue was experimenting with different size belts for best fit. I believe it is od, not sure on the part number. So the ATI has both a UD and OD for our cranks?
