The only reason someone can't do something is because they tell themselves they can't do it.
I'm that guy at work who's pulling apart random stuff and making it work, not small chit but full size refrigerators, ovens, drywall, plumbing, gas lines, deep fryers, you name it, if there's a slight chance I might be able to fix it, I'll try. 9 times out of 10 I have no idea what I'm doing, about 80% of the time I get the job done. People always ask, how is it you know how to do that? My answer is always the same, I didnt.
People message me all the time because of the powerlab kit, the piping is friggin huge and when you look at the pipes and where they go, it looks like there's no way in hell it can fit, in some spots there's maybe 1/8 of an inch of clearance. Almost everyone that has messaged me with a I hate this kit why did I try this on my own, all planned to do it in 1 weekend.
Be realistic about a time frame and take your time, if issues come up step away and rethink it. In the end you really can't mess up that much stuff, I think the worst thing you can do during a turbo install is drop something into the motor when you're changing the plugs, or strip out one of the sparkplugs. The rest of the stuff is just a PITA I gotta stick this tool up where? how the hell! yeah many of those moments.
I wouldn't recommend doing a turbo install to anyone unless they have a garage to use with more then enough room to move around, and a unlimited time span. Once you take your car in for tuning ask the tuner to do a one over on all the piping, and major components.
If you can't get 5-6-7-8+ days to work on it or don't have a garage, I wouldn't mess with it.
Barnies too busy with that fat chick website so I doubt he'll find time to get under his car. Hills is his best option.

I am sure it is the same with other kits, maybe not as much room but that is about all.

Working on a fridge is a bit different than working on your DD. Worst case on a fridge you say F it and toss it in the trash. Worst case on your DD is you're 4k deep on a new shortblock after not connecting that line to your wastegate properly where someone like Frank wouldn't miss it if he was blindfolded and working with one hand.

been in the works for a little while. I am in the final steps of getting the last of the parts I need and I will be doing my build
JWT550bb TT kit
ATS Triple Carbon Plate Clutch 1350-kg. (Soft-Type) w/ Aluminum Clutch Cover & Lightweight Carbon Flywheel
NGK one step colder spark plugs
EMS will be uprev osiris
still need to get injectors (thinking 600cc DW)
Am going to do a return fuel system ( trying to find a used one for sale if not will have my installer build one)
A/f, EGT, boost, gauges ( looking for DEFI's)
I plan on buying Quaife LSD and 3.3 final drive gears in the near future
Already on the car:
Kinetix velocity plenum
HKS hi power true dual 2 1/2" exhaust
install will be done by Frank @ hills garage in baltimore MD and tune will be done by frank smith in annapolis MD.
Goal is to run a 9psi and a 7psi map and see what HP i can get

If you turbo your car and are willing to hit anything more then ZERO PSI without first having it tuned you shouldn't have a turbo car. Once its taken to the shop you'd get it looked over and tuned. at that point the tuner should spot any issues or notice things like the waste got not working correctly.
I had a turbo car that had one of the vac lines come off the waste gate I did hit about 2 bar since I was doing a full throttle run, but as soon as I noticed I backed off and still managed to drive 20+ minutes home keeping the car out of boost.
Strapping a turbo onto a car will not cause it to blow up even if its put on wrong, it wont run correctly or wont run at all, having it not setup right then running under load, THAT is when you'll find your problems. It really isn't rocket science turbo kits are pretty basic when you step back and look at them for what they are. the worst thing I can think
of outside of dropping something into a spark plug hole or stripping it would be drilling out the block for an oil return since that's a one shot deal, but now we have many options for spacers with oil returns build into them. it really is straight forward.
For the record our smallest fridge cost us $2100.00 we dont really like to toss them out.

**** happens people screw up all the time, it's about how you fix your mistake that matters.
Most shops if tuning it themselves would have pulled the rag out and never said anything to the owner. We'll never know if frank would have fessed up or not if he did the tuning but in the end Case was taken care of. Just had to get past the whos at fault issue.

With that being said, someone who does 1 or 2 turbo installs will triple check damn near everything where someone who does them daily just goes through the motions. I've noticed that with a lot of things. Look at homes, if I do something I make sure its done right, if a pro builder does something they make sure its done well enough to be fixed by trim and paint. shoe moding is a wonderful thing for hiding uneven walls/floors.....

I wait tables and everyday I screw up things. I always tell people the truth and fix the issue. that's life, I eat out a lot and the thing that pisses me off is when a server screws up something and pretends it diddn't happen or blames it on something else.

I do agree with your statement though. There are a lot of people who just go through the motions.
**** happens, it could happen again or something else, this can happen anywhere, from a rag in the charge pipe or not installing something correctly, **** happens everyday from performance shops to dealerships. Just search dealership horror stories on google. People run cars into walls, forget to put drain plug back in, install wrong oil filters, or my fav, using a impact gun to put a drainplug on. list goes on.
