I really like Mfactory, our 700whp civic project never crunches a gear with mfactory syncros in the box.

I would love to see some readily available syncro kits for our aging transmissions, that way we could bring new life to the cd00X-cd008's instead of hunting down a cd009.

Maybe an other third gear option too? To compete with Par?

"Carbon-Moly Synchros" would be easy for them to accomplish i think.

Anyways just some ideas

+1 Synchros are probably the only thing some transmissions need.

I don't know why people think the only good revision of the 350Z transmission is the CD009. With a good synthetic fluid, they synchros on earlier revisions are just fine.

I have 2 transmissions:

A CD008 that was installed in my car in early 2004 by Nissan, under warranty. I've had 3rd and 4th replaced with PAR gears and some other work done to make it shift better, but they synchros are stock and it's got about 50K miles total (25K boosted) with ZERO synchro issues. I've run redline MT-90 on it since it had less that 100 miles on it.

My backup transmission is a CD003 that I picked up from a junkyard early last year. Trans had 56K miles on it, and I put some MT-90 in it and drove the car hard ALL summer (CD008 was apart for the 3rd/4th gear changes). Zero synchro issues.

I had two transmissions with synchro issues back in 2003. I don't know what revisions they were, but both were grinding after less than 5K miles (3rd gear on the first, 6th gear on the second). If these transmissions do have synchro issues, they almost always pop up very early on.

I am assuming that all 10 guys need to purchase the same setup. Is that correct?

For instance, what if I only want new 3rd and 4th gears, but somebody else once a new ring and pinion. Does this count towards the 10 people?

do you run 100% MT90 or a the mix of the mt90 and the 70/80 gear oil?

As far as the gear set is concerned, we already have pretty tough gears. What i would REALLY like are the carbon/moly synchros. And also a rebuild kit of sorts, like new seals, bearings, and synchros.

Is it possible to put CD009 synchros in a CD003 box? Are they interchangeable between gearbox models?

Agreed. I drive mine hard daily with no problems. One week of me driving the car is probably equivalent to 1 autocross event.

quote form e-mail i received from them

"yes, the 10 sets need to be of the same item (e.g if you guys want to make a custom ratio final drive, all 10 of you need to make the same purchase).

This applies to the following items:

- Final Drives
- Close Ratio Gear Sets
- Helical & Metal Plate LSD's
- Driveshafts

For the other items (such as the carbon-moly synchros), we are unable to offer these in custom fitment because we ourselves need to manufacture over 500pcs PER GEAR. For Honda, that isn't an issue as we virtually control the market, but for the 350Z, we have never touched this marketed previously.

One other thing that you should mention in the thread is, the whole idea of transmission modifications is NOT for stronger gears, but instead, to get more EFFICIENT gears i.e Gears make you faster"

No synchros! ghey!
So does anyone know if you can put the synchros from the CD009 into a CD003?

No, 3rd, 4th, 5th, are not the same from earlier 350Z transmissions to later ones and could not be interchanged without replacing the gears themselves, and in the case of 3rd and 4th, the hub and slider as well. To get CD009 synchronizers in an earlier trans you'd be looking at probably $1000-$1300 worth of parts (I haven't priced those parts in a while and don't have my price list from when I did price them handy right now).

Not sure about 1, 2, and 6 - never bothered to look in to those since they aren't ever an issue that I've heard of. Would be easy enough to find out by just cross referencing part numbers if someone were so inclined however.
