What's up guys, researched a lot on the forum but couldnt seem to find a definite answer so I'd like to ask teh experts on my question.
Almost ready to buy a GTM TT kit for my 06 G 6mt. First off im not gonna go crazy with numbers just want something that'll pick up quick thas fun to drive around with of course RELIABILITY. I'm keeping a stock block for now but i'd like to address the real weak points of the motor. My goal is to be at about 450 hp n same torque give or take a few. I know the connecting rods are the weak point in the motor which would cause for detonation but what else can I try to upgrade to feel more safer when pushing my ride? Everything else on the stock block seems pretty strong and the only thing im worried about for the number Im trying to reach is the connecting rod. If anyone could tell me what else could be a possible issue for the number im trying to reach id appreciate it. Gonna buy all the supporting mods as well, fuel return gauges boost controller all that good stuff but was more concerned of at 450hp what else should i be concerned about as to not blow up my motor.. Links to other threads addressing this situation would be appreciated also as I couldn't find one.

Got the wheel/setup stance just right now i want it to be as fast as it looks
So tuff to just leave it at that. Would like just a lil more without goin broke neither as this set-up is gonna cost me a lot already. Pushing it a lil more than what u mentioned what else should I be worried about besides the rods?

Just stop. Either you pay for the short block or you leave it under 400 wtq. Either way you risk paying for a complete rebuild. The risks are just different, but not zero.
You want reliability, like stock? Leave it stock. Got some cash to burn for some fun? Then go for it.

lol ^... I would listen to these guys if I were you... for the DE motor.. I would not want to put more than 400/400 tq... dont try and cheat and up the boost.. I promise you will have a rod out the side of the motor..
Yea thas understandable, there is less chance of a blown motor with a built shortblock but i dont intend to go 500+hp neither. This is why i was asking about upgrading the rods. Has anyone here ever done just that and run fine with mid to low 400hp/400tq? I could save up extra cash n go that route but then i wouldnt wanna just settle for the low hp/tq im looking for if im gonna go that route. Not looking to go killer numbers on a stock block just sumthin decent with a good hp/tq number in the mid low 400s. Figured upgrading the rods would be a safe bet to be EVEN safer.

you have pretty high expectations for a stock block. theres nothing wrong with 300-400hp on a Z. im somewhere around 380-390 on 6psi, from my experience its still lots of fun.
with the numbers your trying to achieve, god luck on reliability. if you want something fast prepare to spend some serious cash. sometimes things dont go theway you planned so have a little *extra money laying around.

Good point there. Tough choice to make. If i do go that route then i'd definitely want a bigger number than what im aiming for.

dude its proven that the failing point on a stock DE block is around 420whp-450whp, and 400ft. lbs is all the torque u want on a stock block for sure people have popped their stock blocks with less much less..."tell that to everyone running those numbers on stock block"? what the hell is that supposed to mean...i am running those numbers on stock block 420whp/355ft. lbs..., i would def. not go any higher thats just asking for trouble...and really u are waaaay to concerned with numbers...Its about driving a safe reliable car that performs well, who cares if u make 450whp and it lasts a month cause ill still be driving my 400whp car for years to come..get it safe, plus any shop u were to call would prolly laugh if i told them u wanted to do that..they prolly woudnt tune it for the liability to them when u pop it
