I finally finish this project. It took me 3 weeks lol... working 1-2 hours every other day

time for some final pics

without the air filter

with a ghetto air filter set up til I get something that fits

hood on

The installation was really easy. I'll be getting my tune in 9 hours and can't wait to drive my car again!

Why didn't you use the HKS placement for the filter?

Looking good. I like what your thinking with the Air filter placement. I my-self was thinking of getting a Pipe made to do just that. This way I don't have to run that poor HKS Filtration system. I would like to run Apexi filter after seeing this.

So what Engine management system you going to be using?

His placement of the filter is actually close to HKS placement on the G coupe-This is close to how my air filter sits.

So the HKS filter elements are not good?

Thats what I gather from the article. I just know all my intake pipes where Oily as well as the Compressor housing it's self. I decreased everything.

Your compressor housing had oil coming out of it? This is a used kit? What GTM stage, and do you know how many miles were on the kit before you bought it?

hmm. I recently had oil dripping out of my intake, but I thought it might have been due to overfilling of the traction oil. Can you explainn a little more about what you were experiencing and what you do to resolve it. Thx!

Yes it was the Used kit from Member "DRIFT". Stage 4. No sure on the mileage.

No Tractions oil from the SC was in the pipes, just a residue from the HKS Filter. That coupled with the poor filtration of the HKS filter created a build on the intake pipe to the SC. The Pipes leaving the SC where all clean.

My hood is an OEM style carbon fiber hood with the custom RS concept work done on it.

For now I have no choice regarding the Air filter . I'll get the dimensions and try to find something small since I was told that running the pipe all the way down is not good;; I'll loose power. But, I'll have Cold Air.

Regarding the EMS, I'm going with Osiris. I was suppose to get it tuned today but I have air leaks somewhere in the intake manifold.... Once we fix that and we'll tune it sometime next week

Nice. Sorry about the Air leaks. I am going to be using Osiris myself. I already have a base tune from Sam.
Right now I am just waiting on the smooth idler pulley so I can wrap up my install.

nice! I'd still get the car tuned tho... You'll be running at 9-10psi and if you have breathing mods, IDK how that change things; just my cent...

What RFS are you running and what size of injectors? just curiosity man...

Are you ordering the Apexi power air filter? if you get it, would you have a chance to take the dimensions and pm it to me; I'd really appreciate it man!

Will be definitely doing a fine Tune.
No RFS Need according to GTM. I will be running Denso 600cc injectors. I bought the GTM BASIC FUEL SYSTEM.

Tonight I played around with trying to fab up a something for the intake. I need to get the Dimensions of the APEXi filter (500-A021) so I can get something worked up.

A RFS may not be "needed", but I'm sure it would be "recommended", especially during high rpms.

I think the HKS SC intake element is 200mm? It is either that or 150mm, but I'm pretty sure it is 200mm. Can you verify? I'm guessing the HKS part number is:

70001-AK022 (3 layer) dry type, green

HKS filter is 150mm, or atlest mine is

HKS part numbers for the filters are

1504-SA001 (Green)
1504-SA012 (Yellow)

What size radiator are you running? I'm just wondering if i'll need to relocate the filter aswell with a 54mm radiator
