Since someone already necro-bumped this, I've been wondering if anyone has used those water misters (not sure of their name) that spray onto the rad? I would think that manually controlled ones would be very easy to install and offer excellent cooling but I just haven't seen examples of them being used. Does anyone use them, or is there a reason that they're unfavorable?

I have one of those on my Intercooler, very easy to install. Saw it on a friends STI (they come stock with one) and decided it would be cool to try for ~$80.

Shrouds are 100% needed. When you don't run a shroud the fans tend to pull air from the side as much as they do from through the Radiator. Also I would do everything you can to run the highest flowing pull type fan as all that pusher fans do is actually block incoming air across the rad...

Also the Nissan factory Fans are alot more efficient then the mishi fans, so if there is a way to get them back on the car i would try...

Edit...didnt notice the OP original thread start date.... but at least it was an informative post..lol

hang on.....you are talking about high oil temps and you are improving your cooling system.

You need to upgrade your OIL COOLER first. If your oil is boiling hot from the turbo then that in turn is heating up your engine thus heating your coolant.

100+ degrees here in st louis and i had no problems with coolant temps on my stock radiator and 523hp turbo setup. I have a LARGE oil cooler so my oil temps rarely get over 220*.

First the problem before worrying about doing a bunch of other voodoo. Problem seems like the rise in oil temps.

Wow...I haven't see this thread in a while....

Anyway, to update, since my original post I've updated my setup to the 14" felxalite balck magic fan with the original 2 10" mishimoto fans (because of Vortech piping), but the big upgrade was from the 36mm Mishimotor Rad to a 50mm AMS radiator...no more AC traffic issues...

Do you have any pics of your setup and did you do any sort of shroud? Thanks

anyone know if 2x http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...&item=30102042 will fit on the mishomoto shroud? end up with the same thing as the gtm kit for about 100 bucks cheaper. other option would be mayby http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-168/ x2 but i think that set up would be a little wider then the radiator and would need something to fill in the gaps on the side of the radiator both options would provide similar end results for roughly the same price the flex a lites would be a little cheaper if you have something sitting around to fill in the gaps and if say haltech or pro efi can control them so you dont need all the extra parts. wish i could get the mishimoto shoud without fans >.<

Edit dint see this one it might be worthwhile imo, http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...&item=30103202 or http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...&item=30102156 i know im looking for major airflow but for most people the 4800 cfm of two of those should be plenty might even be enough for me

Jerry - I have two 12" Spal fans with no shroud on my Mishimoto and had some inches to spare. The dual 14" fans may be wide by 1/2-1" or so IMO.

Same here. Just had the stock fans replaced under warranty, too... even with one fan dead and the other barely working I still didn't overheat with the A/C on in 90' weather.

that's because you run the appropriate size oil cooler so you don't have 260* oil temps screwing up the whole system like this OP has going on here.
