no pic of living room. I had a bunch of small OEM gaskets, bolts, sensors ordered as well as all my aftermarket parts.

Work done on may 31 2010:

Swapped OEM cams for Brian Crower Stage 2
Removed modified rear coolant pipe and installed OEM unmodified
Installed exhaust manifolds for turbos

I hate RTV sealant...worst part about the cam swap was cleaning all the surfaces and resealing the front timing cover.

yep, that was my least favorite. Took me just as long to clean and prep as it did to assemble!

Couldn't agree more. Though I did figure out about halfway through that a 3000 psi pressure washer makes short work of the small groves in the mating surfaces.

i could see that working but the idea of using water on this makes me cringe. I'll stick with the old fashioned way!

I have a tiny flathead screwdriver that I've modified to fit perfectly down in that little channel. 1 or 2 passes and it's all out

Well unlike anything you'd use to scrape at the rtv, there's absolutely no way you'll scratch anything with water. The only downside really is that you'll get pretty wet; however on a 90 degree day its not a bad thing.

i've never worried about scratching anything. i don't use that much force!

ya, it was only in the low 40's last head gasket swap i did, not exactly willing to bust out the pressure washer in those temps

Chris

You did have help and only had to deal with front cover as oppose to doing rear cover also.

But it still sucks.

Also dont forget the lash clearances checked

^appreciate all the help, wish ya woulda warned me that the worst part was the RTV removal.

Overall cams are not too bad, just time consuming. I didnt stop by to work on it today got busy with stuff around the house and may try to get out there tomorrow.

another exciting day. We made some good progress today, at least on stuff you can see.

pics:

Work we completed today:
-Hung the turbos on the manifolds
-plumbed up the oil feed lines using an extra port on the motor and fittings. The standard greddy fittings just have too many connections and places to leak
-installed oil pan spacer, AAM
-installed oil return lines from turbos to spacer
-Wrapped headers with heat wrap. Will spray them when we get closer to swapping the blocks
-installed cam position sensos back
-modified fuel bucket for RFS

Things we learned:
-stock header stud on passenger side will interfere with turbo and that is why greddy supplies new ones. All you have to do is grind it down ( alex loved that part)
-to use a t-fitting where I did you also need a coupling that spacers the t fitting out else it will not be able to be tightened into the block

More work to be done later...still hoping to swap motors in August.

I could feel a night and day difference when I had sharif drop in a CD009 trans. worth every penny.

you'll need those solid motor mounts to control the vicious torque this thing will produce

I hope so. My transmission is not a CD009 and was installed 67000 mi ago and should have been replaced after 17k miles in the car. I went to nissan like 3 times and they denied it every time.

I should not have to avoid shifting into 5th when cold out and the car is warmed up. Ive gotten so used to going 4th to 6th its sad...I do it in the summer too.

Ive heard good things about SMM for the 350z that the ride does not really get that harsh.

You find a kit yet?

Sick! Can I borrow some $

RTV removal?
You guys blast with high pressure water??? Is that before or after oil is in it?

Fine grit sand paper and a wire brush worked pretty good for me. I wouldn't dare take a screwdriver to it.
