**Hope this doesnt **** off the OG FI guys...this thread will detail my build and build progress. I will update it with pics and things I find as I go**

Well I sold my vortech a few weeks back and bought a Greddy TT kit from THawk. I also bought Quamen's built motor built by SP engineering. So as far as budget goes I have saved a couple thousand bucks buying their set ups...but that is where the budget build stops. This is starting to get expensive quick....

Parts:
SP engineering shortblock...Quamens longblock that he sold me that had 40miles on it
Greddy TT kit, 18g, tial WG
Haltech Platinum pro ECU with dual widebands and boost control solenoid
AAM competition 3" downpipes with open dumps
AAM oil pan spacer with return lines
Southbend DXD Clutch..stage 5 with custom clutch disc to hold 600whp
New IC kit and piping
CJ motorsports stage 0 RFS
K&N replacement filters for the shrooms of death
Cosworth Intake Plenum
Rare JDM Engine Harness cover
DW300lph fuel pump
Clampco Tbolt Clamps
Jwt Flywheel
Brian Crower Stage 2 cams
DW 800cc injectors
Earls performance Oil cooler with mocal thermostatic sandwhich plate
Coolant pipe modification
new belts
CD009 transmission
ARC Titanium Dual Exhaust

Oem parts that I bought spares of to make swap easier:
Valve covers
Fuel rail
Rear coolant pipe with hoses/sensor
Oil pressure sending unit
Engine mounts

Will be selling:
Titek test pipes
Long block
Aps 440cc Injectors with harness
Spare Oem parts when I am done
OEM Cams
OEM Headers
OEM manifold

Plan is to install most everything I can onto my built longblock...which will eliminate the hard part. Motor swap should occur in August...then break in of clutch/motor and tune. 500 whp should be attainable right!

Pics, cause everyone loves pics.

I installed you EX-vortech kit last week and it runs great. Thanks for being so careful disassembling it and not loosing anything.

I would love to sell my vortech and install a TT kit on the z. But honestly, i am just sick of spending money on this car and have learned just to enjoy it as is. nice build BTW and good luck.

I meant the Dual Ti-C. Ad says 80mm piping = 3". Not the single. Alex has convinced me to get the cams while the motor is out of the car.

girdle is more piece of mind imo.....kinda overkill for a street-able build...

looks awesome man

my opinion; ditch the utec and the evc boost controller. get a haltech.
are those the stock greddy oil supply lines? if they are, i would ditch them. i made new ones before i put my greddy kit on. just for peace of mind. not necessary tho. search my started threads if you need a how-to on making new oil supply lines.

other than that, right on dude. looks like it'll be fun. shouldnt be any problem making a good 500 whp with that.

^thanks Charles...Im sure I would figure it out when i went to install it. Looks like a very simple install as far as basic RFS go. I was looking at the stage 1 install pics...

I may ditch the utec. They dont sell for much. Only thing about going haltech is the entry cost and having to accessorize it with more stuff.

Stage 3 cams require more headwork. Stock valve train cannot handle them. Gotta stop somewhere on a budget build.

As far as the girdle....for a motor that is not going over 600whp is it really needed? I dont really want to go tearing this motor apart....the allure of the longblock was that it was put together, sealed and timed. I was hesitant about the cams but I dont want my top end to suffer (cams and cosworth should make my top end sweet)

Are you planning to tune it on the dyno at TDC?

If they are up for it! It be real nice to have my tuner 15 min away as opposed to 3.5.

If I go Fcon they wont be an option though....damn HKS policies.

My main concern is break in....want to get it done and over asap. Before i do the swap I will be getting a DD some racking up 1k miles on the new motor/clutch could take months! I barely drive 750 miles a month now with it being my DD. Travel too much for work.

wow, i have mine backwards but it fits perfectly without problems so i'm leaving it.

cux, if you are doing cams you'll have the motor torn almost all the way down anyways. rear timing cover and upper oil pan are all that's left and you could have the girdle in if you wanted. i dont know if it's needed though.

BUT like you said stock valvetrain won't handle the stage 3 cams. get rid of the stock valve train! Those springs will sack out around 7k rpms anyways so while you have the cams out you should upgrade to at least better valvesprings.

^+1

if you wanna do cams, you gotta do springs anyhow. Spend a little more time and get it all done the 1st time.

After seeing Alberto's 18G #s, i think people are crazy not to copy his setup esp if they are taking thier motors apart!
