Vortech v3 Project from over the pond
Hi All,
I am from the UK... I will commencing a Vortech v3 install over the next few weeks. Will be doing a DIY with the help of a professional.
I believe the kit belonged to the forum member str8dum1. I have not received this kit yet but will do soon.... (btw, if you're reading this str8dum1, Hi mate, pm me! )
Car is a 2003 J-Spec 350z MT (RHD)
Currently I have installed:
- Motordyne Plenum Spacer 5/16"
- 5Zigen A-Spec Exhaust + Berk Test Pipes
- HKS Induction kit
- JWT Clutch + Flywheel
- VKH20Y - Denso iridium grade 6
- Wizard of Nos SP Progressive 100 shot (to be taken off after Vortech)
I will be receiving the following with the vortech:
- Vortech V-3 self contained supercharger with SI trim impeller upgrade
- 2.87 pulley
- Deatschwerks 600cc injectors
- Monster 24x12x4" Core Intercooler
- Vortech Bypass valve
This is what I'm thinking of getting (unless you guys have better suggestions):
- 3.13 pulley
- Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
- CJ Stage 0 fuel return
- Gauges AEM AFR, Defi Oil Temp, Defi Boost - Can anyone recommend a nice Pillar pod for mounting?
- Orisis Uprev Licence for EMS
...And possibly (if budget allows) Cosworth Plenum
_______
My target figure is a reliable 400whp once the car is finished. Do you think the above spec is sufficient for me to reach my goals? My tuner thinks that 370whp is the MAXIMUM I should be pushing with the stock internals. I believe he mapped the previous vortech owners kit to around 420whp (with 2.87 pulley above on a dynojet i think), but said that the map was extremely rich and recommends that I do not do this (hence the 3.13 pulley in shopping list).
1) What do you guys think of the list above? (Suggestions welcome of course)
2) Would you guys say 400rwhp is too much for the stock internals long-term? - (I'm not afraid of driving my car hard).

Nurrish was pushing the limit at 420whp mate. The 3.13 pulley will get you a nice 350-370 that will last! A much better option. The you "could" build the block later and run n20 you have for so sick torque!

Brought a block with 25k miles on it. Still thinking of going for IPP short block as well so I can run more boost....
Yep, just found the RSW one. Tasty bit of kit that is...

there is no 3.13 pulley...stock is 3.33 and 1 step smaller is 3.12 and the next smaller than that is 2.87..i say run the 2.87..
being rich is gonna make u lose power i beleive u meant to say that guy was lean which would make more power but is unsafe...
I run the 3.12 pulley with bolt on's and make abouy 9.5 psi and make around 415-420whp on a dynojet, ive driven it hard at times but i always care for it..I have 11k miles on the car boosted and a total of 43k miles on the motor with stock internals, zero issues...

Thinking of changing my Y-pipe as well.
Current choices are Motordyne and 5Zigen, anyone have any suggestions that will work well with the 5zigen A-Spec exhaust and Berk Test pipes?
