Default Other fuel pumps...

Well... I'm in the middle of getting all the items I need to boost my Z but I cant start it for another 8 months and I'd like to see what other FI guys are using instead of a Walbro. I'm coming from a 2JZGTE Toyo background and they dont use them as much, In fact alot of the guys that are in the 600whp range say they totally suck. I was told of a Bosch pump(have no clue what it is) that works better and doesnt crap out as much, but that same person uses an Aeromotive system. I bought a CJM stage 1 with the intent of getting the hard pipe and have 800cc injectors, I'm well aware of what you need to support the 600whp level I'm trying to achieve. So what option other than walbro is a viable one... i searched and I got tired of reading of the Walbro's. Thanks.

Due to the complexity of the split fuel tank setup in a 350Z (unlike a Supra etc), a simple drop in pump (Walbro) that is capable of supporting ~500whpDD is an excellent choice. This is why you see so many using them here.

For your goal of 600whp, a single Walbro may or may not do it depending on what dyno you are on. On a Dynojet you would be at/near the limit of a single Walbro, and Dyno Dynamics you would need a Twin Pump setup.

Other options are possible such as a surge tank with bosch pump, but you get into more complication than is necessary with the great options of simple drop in replacement or drop in twin pump kit.

I have experience with a number of styles of fuel systems on Z, ranging from surge tanks, to personally running a single in-tank pump from a Bugatti Veyron (requiring significant testing and modification), to our drag car with a cell and Weldon pump. Having been around a number of systems really makes me appreciate a simple proven system, as mentioned above.

Walbro does well in this community.....Does your friend/s have facts to back up the claim that the Walbro "Totally Suck"? I am over 800whp and have not had a problem with it ....I have been using it for over 3 years now without any issues.

That actually makes alot of sense... the guy who told me of the Bosch setup runs twin aeromotive pumps, to me it sounded like overkill but he has a custom T88 Supra set up which is good for 800whp on low boost and he has yet to boost anything >28psi. I told him about my Walbro CJM setup and he scoffed at the idea of using a "cheap" fuel pump. Then he mentioned the Bosch pump and said its used on trucks or something crazy like that. My Z will not be a DD, I have a Yaris for such duties. Thanks for the info and it looks like I'm going to get a Twin pump set up.

Well... He had a 8 sec Grand National and a Hennessy Viper both of which I've seen and ridden in. The Grand National ride was very very breif but nontheless it was an experience. To answer your question I was just taking him on his word, hence the question. I searched and really didnt find anything pertinant to what I was looking for. I'm starting to see early that my choice to initially get the Walbro was a good one. I have a Greddy Tuner so I know the kit can support what I'm looking for but I want to "over build" as much as possible.

If you want to overbuild, then the sump with the big external is the best way to do it.

GN guys use the bosch 044 pretty regularly as do supra guys because those fit in their double pumper kits.

Bosch 044's would have been what I would have done if it wasn't the triple walbros.....2 bosch 044's probably flow close to same as 3 walbro 255's.

You'll still need a siphon system (or another pump...but that pump will surely die quickly cause it won't allways be in fuel to cool it), unless you replace or modify tank.

Ok my mind is at ease then... I was only curious b/c the Supra set up is legendary, why not emulate as much as possible? I see now that the set ups are entirely different though.

1200's.

Fuel system is ready for E85 whenever I decide to get flex fuel sensor and frequency converter.

800's will get you to 600rwhp on gasoline, but not E85. And so I don't get yelled at, depending on your setup it may need to be on racegas.

You will be on the edge of a single walbro at 600rwhp with a return fuel setup(would need to watch fuel pressure).

A single Bosch should be fine at 600rwhp (return fuel system).

I have a Walbro now... but do you think the Bosch is worth it? I mean from the looks of it, I should just get the twin set up and call it a day.

Twin walbro's will get you well beyond 600rwhp.

Pretty much personal preference at this point and what you are using to tune/control things.

I have a utec but Im doing more research... I originally bought a V3 supercharger setup from Adam and changed my mind for the Greddy, but I already had somethings for the supercharger. So far the unit I see everyone ranting about is the Haltech Platinum.

Very funny Rich....

Tom.....I had enough fuel on both dyno's at 25 and 26 psi's. I thought I would need 3 and was planning to order the SP setup.... But i did not need it. The CJM was flowing it's azz off.

OP....I am running 1200cc right now.... But i am upgrading to ID 2200cc, NOTbecause the 1200cc is not enough.... But because I need high impedance.....but that's another story.

The twin CJM is more than you will need.....at 1000+ whp on a DJ I still had more than enough fuel. I chose to go with this setup because it's proven to be reliable. If another pump was used and proven to be better in this community I would have went with it.
