Default Forced induction, the next step.

Hi guys, I have been reading and searching the forums for quite sometime here and I finalized my decision as far as upgrading my Z to FI. Now, am quite almost done paying for this car and my plan was to change it for something roomier and 4 door but my plans have changed. I decided that i will keep the Z and lease something for my lady and I after is done payed of, we will split the payments with the new car so it wont be so rough. I wanted to see as far as options go which would be the best route for this car since i will have the time to leave it in the shop and the money to invest in it. I was wondering and researched that building the VQ is the ideal thing to do but i also looked at a 1JZ swap for it which i got quoted by a shop here in Miami 6K to do it. As far as i know a used twin turbo greddy kit is about 4K with no labor, and then come the engine internals etc.. what do you guys think should be the a far less expensive option as well as having to swap my tranny for a manual since my car is A/T. Thanks for your time.

p.s- My plan is to have around 500hp.

you need to do a lot more research if you think you're gonna swap a 1jz into this.

you do know this is a nissan right?

6k in parts alone won't get you to 500hp. You can break 400 with that on a vortech system if you bought used parts, but 500hp a built engine will be needed.

Sell your car. Buy a newer used Z with an HR motor and a manual trans. Put a TT kit on the stock block and run ~500-550whp. It will cost you less $$$$ and down time than building what you have to work with.

and I after is done payed of,
Also.... its paid, not payed read it before you post it

Agreed. Anyone with a 5AT that wants to go F/I with 500whp and doesn't PM Raj first must not be doing much research.

Well thanks for the comments but yes FI will be in the works in the future. Am not dreaming and I have seen many of the builds here, Its alot of work to do but am willing to take the risk of doing it. We will see what happens further on ill try to start a new thread with it.

1JZ is a great idea if the shop can do it for 6K....I am not sure what is holding you back most twin turbo systems for our cars cost more than that.

For sure. After seeing the HR TT stock block at the airstrip it seems like a great compromise between power, cost and reliability. If this made financial sense for me, I would do it in a second.

The cheapest thing for you to do would be to get a used Vortech, install it yourself, and leave the transmission alone. Though based on your English, I'm not sure that is something you would want to try and tackle alone.

I don't think you understand the parts & costs involved with forced induction as you said the "far least expensive" next to 6k. You are not going to hit 500hp on that car under 10k.

Next step is money, set aside at least 12K if you plan on going with boost.
