Default Greddy TT Exhaust Flange Gasket.

First off, for those that install this kit themselves in their garage.

I pulled my motor (at a garage) during the original install, and now I know why they say its the easier route.

Kudos to you guys. I feel like I know every inch of this car, its satisfying in a sense.

Now, I blew out my drivers side Manifold/Exhaust flange gasket. The metal ones that came with the kit. I think a bolt became not so tight, created some space and blew it out.

My question, is there a "better" gasket than the metal one? Since its apart, I may as well doit right or use an upgraded version.

Thanks.

I had the same problem on both the driver's and pass's side. I haven't began to rebuild yet, so I haven't looked for a better gasket yet.

metal gasket would be just fine, its the bolts not holding torque. Use prevailing torque lock nuts, aka "top lock nuts"

i had a hell of a time finding gaskets recently building my dad's 300zx. Same gaskets on the td05-16g. I just bought some soft metal gasket material (i forget the name, its expensive though) and cut the gaskets out of it. Made better gaskets than the greddy ones, haven't had a problem.

$25.00 EACH, which I think is normal for a Multi-Layer steel gasket.

I ordered 2, just to keep another one around.

I don't blame the gasket for the issue, Im sure this happened because of a not-so-tight bolt, which created space and allowed the gasket to "flap" causing the blow out.

Thats just my professional assumption though lol

So note to self, check bolts from time to time.

Bump, gotta do this again DAMNIT....

Thinking of just ditching the gasket and using high temp sealant. Does anyone just run this without gaskets? Most kits don't use gaskets...

You shouldn't be blowing them out this frequently though. Are you getting the bolts torqued tight enough or having a hard time when installing your pipes back in?

The high temp silicone will work, but you can blow the silicone out too just like a metal gasket. I personally think the gaskets are not the problem but the torque of the bolts once the gaskets are in place.

Yeah that's thing thing, its so hard to get any kind of torque on those bolts cause of the location.

Maybe I should just pull off the whole manifold.
