Retarding FI timing with Consult II
Anyone know how much the timing can be retarded with the Consult II? I know the limit is like 3 for advancing, but I'm wondering if there's any way the Consult II can do a graduated timing retard setup for people experiencing detonation with the Procharger.
Seeing the timing settings that someone posted. Not sure if they're the real thing yet, has given me the heeby jeebies.
This is what I would do with my timing with the Consult II if possible
Idle: +2
4000: -2
5000: -4
6000: -6
6500: -12 (just because it jumps up to 28 BTDC)
If anyone has this info that would be gnarly dude.
This is just a guesstimate of mine. I don't know for sure what the actual optimum settings would be, but is my educated guess.

best bet is TS re-flash (and you tell them how much to take out)...
or a safegaurd from j&s (which has a boost dependant retard) and also engine knock retard for even more safety...
m
edit: fyi: my TS flashed ecu stays at 16degrees at redline... which is about -12 like you said.. you are on your way!
edit2: you probably want more timing taken out at max torque RPM.. this is because this is the biggest strain on the engine... maybe change the 4000-5000 to a little more?

Yeah, I know, but it would be nice to do it on the cheap. I know there are service techs out there who will do this kind of thing for free when you bring your car in for regularly schedule maintenance.
Boost dependant retard would be the optimal option, but since the SC is RPM dependant, I figure if the Consult II is capable of it, this would be pretty much the same.

You can retard the time up to -5 (neutral gear) with the consult II but it readjust to -2 after it safe by the consult II... just like when is advance it (+5 = +2)
I don't know if still -2 in redline... maybe is progressive!
Hope this help!

you can alter base timing and it will be permanently effective throughout the range. However it is a small amount (ive never tried more than 2-3 degrees for base setting) You CAN retard quite a bit for actual diagnostic testing i.e. checking for detonation at upper RPM ranges but you cannot make it a permanent change. Unfortunately you cannot make it a 'curve' either if you input -5 deg it removes 5 degrees throughout the range.
