Yeah.... MOST insurance will not pay out if the policy holder/s take their own life. My policy has it in bold letters....if you have a policy 1 million dollars or over ....they will NOT pay out. With the economy the way it is.... There would be a run on claims from people killing themselves to help their families if they allowed it.
I must admit, this thought went thru my F'ed up brain alot. I made it though.

All suicides are not the same in the eyes of an insurance company.
person A suffers from depression, on medication and kills himself, will get his policy paid
person B *cough Mr A cough* 86's himself because he is in financial ruin or is facing prison, will have the claim heavily contested

I have seen policies pay out on suicide, but its a long drawn out process. Insurance companies have a "discovery" period ( most of the time 2 years ) in which they can contest a claim for suicide, after that its up to the policy language.

Someone falling off a roof is a different story.... It would have to be proven that they jumped or fell off.
CoachK..... I don't want to hear that!!!!!!

I hear he used a gun. I would have expected him to come up with some elaborate scheme and run a car off a cliff or somethng so his family could get paid!
FYI...it's suicide prevention week so if you know someone who has talked about checking out, reach out to them. And then continue to reach out for the rest of your life. It does make a difference.
It had nothing to do with the shop or JT. My medical problems started when I retired. Being retired is not what its cracked up to be. You go to work everday for 29 years and then one day the walls in your house start closing in on you and it makes you nuts. Granted, I was having some anxiety issues during the time the shop was open but so much other stuff was also happening to me at the time.

Thanks Quick....
Mike...you have no idea how many times I read your email over and over. I never took a stitch of medicine in my life and thought I could get thru my medical issues without it. In your email you said "TAKE YOUR MEDS". I thank you a million times over for that.
