I forgot to answer this question. For the car, I plan on driving it on the street a lot! I also plan on taking it to the drag strip as many times as possible, driving it to and from lol. Friends have been trying to convince me to take it to Putnam. I have never been on an actual track, so I am weary, but I may start going and practicing a bit, just to get my feet wet!

str8dum1: I am very lucky to have Hal and them to help coach me along the way. You were right on the money with the Kelford. That is what they recommended. However, they said it was made to order and would take 4-5 weeks, which I don't really want to wait that long. I opted for their second choice which was the BC stage 2 cam. They say it would be better for breathing at higher RPM with my stroker set-up. I am also getting an ATI super damper from them to complete the package.

855 seems unreal to me, but I don't know near as much as you guys do about what it takes to get to that power. Like I said, I was just shooting for 600 lol, but anything above that is just more icing on the cake! I see a lot of clutch slipping in my future!

A little update. Got the old motor out. As I am sure most of you know, the APS manifolds are a bit tough to get to. But for those that don't, I am going to try to show the tight spots.

Starting taking all of the accessories/brackets off.

We had to modify a wrench to in order to get the manifold bolts off. You will see what I am talking about here in a bit:

One of the nut location (see it on the left side)

Another angle of same nut

More pics of the manifold nuts

Turbos and manifolds off

I beam rods in old motor

Old motor disassembled

Upon our inspection, we could not find anything really wrong with it. We are going to have it looked at and see what is going on.

I thought this was pretty cool. ***AGAIN, this motor was not purchased directly from Injected Performance*** It was purchased from a private individual 4 years later without being fully ran or turned over. It was then driven on a loose flywheel (installed by Nissan Techs) more than likely throwing off the harmonics and ruining the motor. Either way, this stamp is baller haha.

We inspected the block and couldn't find anything wrong with it. But, we are taking and having it looked at.

Also, Went down to Injected to check out the progress of the motor and to pick up my OEM gasket replacement kit.

Eddy down there is awesome. He is a great guy and does great work

Thanks again to Dustin for helping me out with everything

New steel billet crank

Darton M.I.D. sleeves

Carillo forged rods

ACL bearings

ARP L19 headstuds

Motor will be finished tomorrow. We are heading to pick it up. The heads are getting cleaned and machined. They won't be finished until Monday.

We have a lot of RTV to clean up in the meantime!

^Pretty Did you decide to keep your car man?? I sure hope so

As for mine, I got some good updates. The shortblock was finished. I got the heads disassembled/reassembled, cleaned and machined. I also got them bolted to the block. Took it all home. Started putting in the cams tonight also. I ended up with the BC stage 2. This is what Hal recommended me getting so that with the stroker kit, it could breathe a lot better at higher RPM.

I am going to hopefully have the engine all assembled (timing covers, oil pans, etc.) and have it ready to be put back in the car! It's getting close.

no problems clearancing for the oil squirters, rights?

ya every stroker car except Hals race car uses a more moderate cam duration, 262, 264 etc.

Seems like the added displacement would already shift the curve to the left, so you could run a longer duration cam, but that's not what tuners are doin

Yeah, I was curious about that also. But, I figured it was safer to go with what the tuner said as they know a lot more about it than I do. I am in the process of learning everything as I go ya know? I wish I knew more about a lot of the stuff.

As for the clearancing, I had Injected do also to be on the safe side. There wasn't any problems with it. So far, everything has been going pretty smooth. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Tomorrow, we are going to put the timing covers on along with the oil pans. Hopefully, we will have the turbos on this weekend also and have it just about ready to put into the car!

Wouldn't you want to use something a little better than the L19 for this build?

L19s are top of the line. the additional variables of tryin to machine for 1/2" studs doesnt outweight the benefits.

Is the girdle specific to the stroker, or just an aftermarket unit? If aftermerket, how much?

The girdle will work with any VQ35 application. We use it for the stroker cranks as we need additional clearancing for the crank but use these regularly on unsleeved blocks. Hal runs the girdle on his 9 second street car, we use this on our 8 second stroked z as well.

Thanks again guys.

As for the L19's, they are the top of the line. If you were talking about increasing the size, str8dum1 is right. You then have to drill into the block which the VQ's don't like ha. It just isn't worth it. There should be no headlift with the L19's.

As for updates, we got the rear timing cover on, cams installed, cam sprockets, and all timing chain components. Tomorrow, we have front timing covers, upper and lower oil pans, and then turbos.
