What happened to the fun we use to have.
I think the problem is that when teh 350Z was hot, so was everyone's pockets. Everyone just paid for stuff without asking why. You want +1mm valves, get em. No flow charts etc to show what its worth. No sense in the vendors doin all that work when customers were paying anyhow.
Now the 350Z isnt hot, vendors dont wanna spend the money anymore to do such tests, and the avg consumer cant afford that stuff to begin with.
Hopefully companies like GTM that are developing new products, like the "GTR"-esque manifold will post up some bench numbers to compare flow to stock. We've been luck with SG-motorsports and Motordyne still being transparent with their developments. Most everything else is bandwagon word of mouth.

Excluding domestics, is there a better bang for the buck platform for modification? A Porsche turbo costs $200k new - how is that in the same comparo? Where do you go from a TT Z/G that's got show and go? <<<<<<< that's a serious question, cause all of us are thinking about it. Anything after a few years gets boring. A used R8? blah...
this platform is not a good bang for the buck, you build it because you want it,not for economic sensibility.where should you go from here?
the choices are endless import and domestic, you just need to expand your mind.small example:for the same money build a 240/260/280 that staggers the mind, that's three and i didn't even change manufacturer......
EDIT: or how about an 84 maxima?ha ha i actually had one way back and she was hot rwd, irs, inline 6 and she would talk to me......."your door is ajar","your headlights are on" she had a sultry voice...i miss her

at least all the og's came in for one last thread. This Blows.
but on the positive side parts will become cheaper and us young re-tards will be able to scoop up more used parts for cheaper... thats about it. Searching for info is getting harder to come by these days.... the catch can thread proved it, somethin like two weeks and the was no definitive answer from an og that shut everyone up.

Possible flaming of me time. Looking to do an NA build for next TimeAttack season, 11 to 1 Cosworth pistons, headwork , C8 cams and a few other happy things. Well the 2012 season i may go FI. What do people think about leaving the 11 to 1 pistons in, going Vortech with the 2.87 pulley and moving to E85 in hope to keep it together? Flame away and/or give me a few pointers for my N/A build so i can swap to FI after a year without tearing the motor down.

The G/Z are getting older
To expensive to go F/I
Shops competed to heavily on this site leading to over stating WHP numbers and customers expecting a perfect setup that never broke and expecting it to be fixed for free when it did.
But most of all ...extra spending money isnt there for most of us like it was 5 yers ago.

Maybe its just me being sour, but I feel like most people that went FI back in the day or built early just had bad experiences, and were smarter than me and cut losses quickly. Not your usual "a coupling came loose and I lost boost" but the "I spent $25K+ and my motor blew after 1 yr at weaksauce power"
Many stories like the ladder unfortunately, and as can be verified by the private classifieds people just jump ship to other platforms once they realize boost isnt always what its talked up to be.
Ive been here since 03', gone thru all stages of modding, and had MANY more negative experiences since going FI. In fact I have less than 500 miles on my car this year (not because I want to), been to the shop 3X, after leaving everytime something else negative pops up, I just cant get a break. Been that way since 2007 really. Its hard to wanna keep doing this after almost 4 years of hardly driving it, not trusting it, and not having fun but still spending money.
Fawk this platform
Last night after picking up my car I got the start of what Im almost positive is rod knock. Im over the car

Nothing against your choices, but for me, those are well, old - some have that timeless body style but a great motor in a shell where the interior trim is falling apart just doesn't do it for me. The Z/G inside and out are just plain sexy. When other cars with that kind of appeal cost twice as much, at least, this platform clearly becomes the best bang for the buck.I think everyone's just depressed cause it's cold outside and no one's got traction.

On the other hand, looking at 370 and GTR sales, looks like it's down over 25% ytd compared to last year. Interestingly, G sedan and coupe sales are up 25% vs last year. Overall Nissan seems to be doing well thanks to the Altima and a few other models.

Anyway I still check the forum every day. It has been dead lately so i try to update my thread when I can to add what I can. I don't agree with the negativity on our platform though. I wouldn't trade my z for anything, except a G. I built it, it's my daily, and I have 30K miles on my build, and have enjoyed every minute.
I also love the 300zx and the 260z. I'm just a z guy and none of them will get old for me.
I'd take a G because a 2 seat daily isn't exactly practical.
And flaming noobs FTW! it lightens the mood, and nonetheless EVERYTIME someone does direct them to the fi for noobs thread or the ever so popular newb video (thanks alberto!) which actually helps.
I've had a great time with the Z and the older and less popular it gets, the more I like it! Doing my own work I haven't had any bad experiences yet. I guess it helps also that my mods come slowly (still on factory wheels
)I wasn't a member of this forum until after it's prime, but i''m not going anywhere

I tend to think that things like this go in cycles, just as with everything in life.
I highly doubt the platform is truly dead, a lul sure, but dead no.
after all these years I've phased my z out as a daily driver so that I only drive it when I want to drive it and not when I have to drive it. this way I can do my own work and not worry about having to depend on it to get me to school, work, etc.
I know my motor will likely go after a while (or maybe immediately who knows) after I go FI. thats cool I'll just buy a used motor from one of you ship jumpers for dirt cheap
or better yet build it myself. being a mechanical engineering major has it's virtues.

And yes i'm"old school".I've had race z's before most people on this forum figured out what a booger was.My first z was in the eighties,i had a wide body 260 with a whale tail......shut up,there wasn't alot of choices back then.
