Default What happened to the fun we use to have.

Like the title says what happened to the fun we had in this section of the forum. We used to flame the hell out of peeps here who wouldnt do any research and wanted to be spoon fed.
The likes of Doug are gone cause there is no fun at letting loose on noobs anymore and i think we are getting a little to nice over here with what we have to flame.
Cmon bring on the noobs with the Stillen and or Turbonetics questions as we are here to answer all those questions

Alot of the guys that kept this forum going got tired of being Banned for b/s and some got tired of how it is ran so they more just keep to themselves or went to other forums. Its a shame cause alot of those guy were very knowledgeable and have tested/proven alot on here.

This whole site seems to be a shell of its former self.

I used to visit the FI forum every day. Now it's maybe once a week. There haven't been many new developments in 350Z FI lately and I think that plays a part.

I'll throw out a few thoughts...

1) too much of a kit mentality on this site. No one fabs their own kits, instead everyone just uses standard issue kits from Greddy, JWT, APS, HKS, etc. So there isn't a ton of innovation here, just the same stuff being done over and over. People get bored I guess...

2) Z/G's are getting a bit old, and that means their coming down in price. Few people who are buying a car for $15K are going to put another $15K into it for a stock block TT setup.

3) A lot of the fun came from having a several shops on here (MRC and Performance Factory for instance) and since a lot of shops aren't really actively participating in this section anymore, there is less to comment about.

Sad but true, as this place is a shadow of its former self

I believe once the LS swap becomes cheaper and more common this board will be full of life again. Orrrr someone figures out how to make a kit with aerochargers.

I suppose that the way of things really. the z and g are kinda old news withing the car enthusiast community. parts manufacturers have moved on to newer and more publicized platforms. I mean it only makes sense for them from a business perspective. the good news is that before long the 350z will be rare again because all the 16 year old kids that will soon be totaling them out in the coming future. somewhat like the last gen RX-7s and such

Ok since I got you guys on here... I have a Greddy Tuner with all the parts needed to make it work. I saw a E-charger on Ebay for .99... should I sell my Greddy to get the E-charger... opinions?

You can flame away over there

I won't say anything

Back in late 05 through 06 is the high point of this section

MRC calling out alot of shops
VRT with their smoke and mirrors
Scott using multiple names to amp up his vaporware (wa2good)
Performance Motorsports

all the AAM bashing
What ever happened to Lawchick?
What was that other person that use to ride VRT coat tails? I think he had a yellow Z?

I remember it like it was yesterday

its sad that this forum thrives on flaming noobs, but no going out and trying new things or expanding on the technical knowledge of the VQ. If you read legacy forums like supraforums or turbobuick.com, they dont flame noobs much and they have about a ton of cars making 1000whp and running sub10sec 1/4s.

granted the buy in price for those platforms keep out the riff raff like we have seen in the past few years....

I cant even read G35driver anymore, cuz like Gord said is mind numbing noobness. People that dont know **** advising people that know less ****.

Like Jam3z said about shop involvement... the 2 forums I mentioned above has very active vendor subforums, which are constantly presenting new builds, turbo comparisons, dynos, head flows etc.

Sound performance posts there everyday. All we get from them is a random post once a month saying that ProEFI is on sale. GTM used to be active with posting their builds, cookie cutter or not, would still allow for discussion. Same with forged, etc.

I mean its fun to make noobs feel stupid and then try to help those who help themselves, but for us to make our platforms faster, stronger, and more reliable we really need to start promoting the activity of our vendors once again!
