You want 1/2 inch of play in the Cog belt when the car is completely cold. When the car is Hot, after driving, it will take out most of the play, but should still have some play, But Never Tight like a guitar string. There are other conditions that can cause a belt to break. I have over 40,000 miles with the Vortech and Never had a belt problem.

That's normal, just as long as it doesn't hang over the edge. If it does add or remove a washer on you idler pulley. After looking closely you maght have some of your belt hanging over. You need to get that idler pulley to shift in some so it pulls that belt back on that lower cog belt. Use the shim/washer method I stated above.

if the belt isnt hanging over any i wouldnt worry about it..it is normal to go to the edge of the pulley...like stated above with it cold and if its a brand new belt hold down with one hand pushing down and tighten..i would go a little tight because the belt will stretch a little but thats just me..i never had a problem breaking belts..if its too loose most likely will get a little squeak

It is protecting the plastic plug and wire that plugs into your cam sensor. It's actually an oil control valve but often referred to as the cam sensor on this forum. If this wire is cut by a shredded belt and grounds out on anything metal (which it will most likely do) it will often fry your ECU. I'm looking into becoming a vendor on here and I may make a batch of these guards along with more detailed instructions on how to install one. Not sure of the cost of becoming a vendor and all so if there is a lot of interest I may move forward with this.
