Did you go with a standalone first and did it fix the problem? Or u just got both at the same time and swapped them out? I'm thinking about buying a stock ecu with a Cobb or power fc.

There is a single 12 volt supply voltage wire that leaves the battery compartment, feeds the passenger side coils, feeds the cam phasing solenoid, wraps around the front near the timing cover, and then supplies 12v to the driver's side coils. With the car off, I would test for continuity between each of the 12v and ground pins on each of the harness plugs since you know the passenger side coils are working. Shouldn't take more than 5 mins if you have access to the pin layout from the service manual.
The coils are negative triggered by the ECU, so if the wiring is intact, then I would try another ECU. I presume your ECU is properly grounded? It may not work correctly if it is just laying on the carpet for example.

The ecu will have to be reflashed by Nissan do not let them lie to you and tell you they can't do it. They rewrite the vin. If both ecus are from an auto they will work or standard. My car did the same crap, started running like crap and having a missfire when my 350 thought it was being stolen when I was driving it. New ecu from nissan 1200$ later, put the old back in after then new one, pulled codes from it for an anti theft problem. Drove to dealer ship made the tech cry for being a retard for ripping me off.
My problem was a burned injector driver on the ecu. giving me a missfire. Nissan said the car with aftermarket cams could not be trouble shooted.
A friend and me pulled the intake manifold, and fuel rails, I cranked the car while he watched the injectors, one would not fire. 3 coils also burnt out at the same time. 1200$ ecu and 950$ new nissan coils it was fixed, so much for a reliable car right?
BTW they told me my junkyard ecu, and the ecu in my car were ruined. Uprev was able to read them. Nissan will lie and steal from you.

As long as the ecu is from the same engine and trans it will work just do not get a revup ecu for a de. Do NOT buy after market coil packs from NAPA, they are hot glued together, i put one in and pulled it out and had to buy long *** needle nose pliers to dig it out. Get a friend check all coils for spark, pull the intake manifold check all injectors for fuel. Check your grounds.
Showed the Nissan tech the page in the FSM ( i printed it and took it too him ) about the link from bcm to the ecu for the anti theft, it was like he was brainwashed in a cult told me I was full of it.
If your nissan tech went to school at UTI kick him in the nuts and go to a different dealer.

Thanks guys. I found an ecu on ebay for 225. needs to be reprogrammed of course. how much do they go for? i mean a stock reflash? The ECU on ebay has the same part number all the way up to the last four numbers. I was thinking the last four numbers are serial/lot numbers. anyone agree?

thanks! im about to order a utec and tune it myself. Im tired of all this reflashing. I was looking at all the add-ons for the utec and im kind of confused. which add-ons are a "must have" for the utec?
Then again reflashing is so much more cheaper, faster, and a lot less headache. ill check out uprev and see if i want to go that route. any suggestions?
