Lightbulb To "PAY" now or "PAY" Later.....

I have read VERY interesting points here from BOTH sides on the *FORCED-INDUCTION* topic.
When I read actual stories and see dynoes of you guys with 100+hp gains, I get totally PUMPED!
And believe me, after having driven SkiDazzles car (aftermarket Twin-Turbo) I got completely....

However............Bottom line for me is this:

There are OBVIOUS & APPARENT risks when adding "forced-induction" on any car. And it is also obvious that unless you have the "funding/cash" on tap to overcome any potential problem associated with the risks......you probably should NOT attempt this MOD!

That being said.......I have longed for additional "substantial" power (75 hp+) but I've been rightfully cautious and patient.

I have come to the conclusion that if Nissan won't build a factory 'Forced-Induction' 350Z, I probably won't have one. Particularly due to the fact that I know how I drive and I don't want to have ANY concerns with "getting on it" on a regular basis, or having to monitor the car while doing so. Without having the peace of mind that it'll go straight to the dealer for warranty repair no questions asked.

It's like I always say, "You have to Pay to Play!"

Either you "Pay" to be among the 1st to have FI (from the various manufacturers out there) like many of you have. And then "Pay" should something go wrong. Or I/anyone else will have to wait and "Pay" for Nissan to build this car already done........or "Pay" for another product/car to suit my/your needs.

Just my $.02

Marcus

I share so many of your same feelings. The more I mod my car the more I enjoy it. I have never driven a FI 350Z but know I would be immediately jealous. With all great gains come downsides... I love FI and really would like it, however, with almost 30k on my car already I really don't need to see the life of my car shortened or the value of FI pleasure going down the drain for a close eye on all systems.

The fun factor increases and the headache factor increases 2 fold. Too much to lose... a lot to gain. NA for more $$$ will lead to a solid performer with a longer life.

My two copper ones...

Words of wisdom right there. There's more to running big numbers than just fronting the cash to get the parts installed. You also have to be able to maintain them as well.

p.s. Thx Marcus for making me do the "right" thing. Modding cars is a disease, and i can't think rationally sometimes.

I hear exactly what you are saying. I am really conserative and want to reduce the risk level of ruining my motor.

I have spend hours on line and off line researching this topic. To the best of my knowledge, the only thing close to what you want that is planning on being released is the Dream Workes SC. They promise to be released in January with CARB legal, 36K drivetrain warranty (Yes, drivetrain not just engine warrranty). Jeff @ performance Nissan is one of the Nissan dealers planning on selling and servicing that product. It is not a done deal until it is actually released but it seems to me you need to monitor DW threads and stay in touch with Jeff (and myself if you like) on this topic. They are claiming 400 crank hp thus 113hp gain which exceeds your goal of 75+ hp.

DW main engineering team came from engineers from TRD of toyota. If you remember, TRD offers factory warranties for their SC'ers. This tells me they are confident of the engineering of this group.

I hope this helps, Jeff - zland

Just buy the new C6 Vette. It should finally have a decent interior if the interior on the new GTO is any indication.

GTO's interior was designed in Australia.

I am playing the wait and see game.

Many of my Z brothers have volunteered themselves for the "Need for Speed" and added Forced-induction mods.

They are sort of the guinea pigs for all of us. And I thank you all for your Sacrifice and the sharing of your experiences.

After my recent run in with a small furry mammal impacting my front bumper, I have to wonder how much worse the damage would have been if I had a FMIC and assorted other turbo or SC parts. Fixing the car is expensive enough, replacing the bolt-on's would be really painful.
