Ok, let me start by saying that I know that I will get slammed for this, but I want to see what can be done and maybe build it to see. So please try to help out and not just beat me up.
I read a thread before about a guy who wanted to show you could make good power without spending too much, so it got me thinking and it never left me, so I have no choice but to ask you all what you think and for your help. Will it hold forever, no, but it is cheap so I can live with it.
Can I make 500rwhp with only $7,000, this includes, turbo system, intercoolers and piping, fuel system and pump, EMS, pistons, rods and possible a clutch. I will try to find the best deals I can that should hold for this kind of power, so please if you guys know of any parts that can be used and fit the budget please let me know.
For turbo I will look at GodSpeed Project, they have many cheap options, and can help with BOV as well as intercooler and exhaust system. For pistons and rods, I will look for used parts here in the forums and ebay. EMS Uprev or Utec or anything else you guys suggests. I will use as many parts as I can find in my garage and put a real cost to them, such as 600 cc injectors and CJM fuel rails, also have some ACL bearings that I hope I can use. HR head-gasket and bolts will be used.
I will use the engine in the car and not count that as cost. Clutch, give me suggestions, and if I forgot something let me know.
I know I will see a lot of
or
and some people might want to
but please try to give some good info for this to work
Thanks

Daily driver?
If you can only afford 7k for your build then you are probably better off not building at all.
I went into my build thinking 10k would be enough...lets just say I am at 18k at last check and I am not even done!
I snagged some real deals too. they are definitely out there (there is a guy parting out his whole car and his entire setup was going cheap!)
You can view my thread that started out as a budget build. JTGLI is the thread youre probably thinking of.
I have seen you posting in many threads talking about building ect but i think you may need to wait a bit longer and make sure you have the right amount of money to do it right.
If its not your daily then make it a project car.
I barely did my vortech setup for 6k on a stock motor/clutch and 340whp. 7k for built/turbo 500whp is going to be tough.

I have a place that do the little engine work that is need for cheap. So that is another question, for 500rwhp, how much head work is needed ?? any ??
He will bolt up the bottom end and I will do the rest and install it. But yeah $7,000, so come with the good deals![Smilie](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Current list,
APS manifolds $500

No this is not a daily build, this is just something I can't get out of my head and want to see if it can be done with parts most people wouldn't put in or on their engines.
My other engines have a lot more money to them

no. Dont go that route. Buy a complete kit and be done with that. You will spend more money making parts work then already buying a complete kit.
No head work for 500whp. You can do cams to make your powerband better but not required.

pics?
Why would you have that many cars and kits? Sell some of them and focus on one unless youre building for specific use...drag/autox/hpde ect
If you get tired of you 04 tt setup ill gladly take it off your hands.

haha, well the -04 is getting the engine built right now and the -03 is in the garage getting ready to get a new engine in beginning of Feb, bought BBS350z whole setup, so I think that one will feel good ![Smilie](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The -05 is the only one I'm driving at the moment, but still not boosted, so I have to see if my engine builder gets the engine done for the -04 first or if I get the -03 rolling boosted first
I'll have some pic's up next week or so

I didn't say I had them, I said I'm building them right now, and it was 3 of them. 1 -03, 1 -04 and 1 -05, none of them are boosted at the moment, but I have most parts for them all and then some. All I want to do is to see if it is possible to do it without spending so much, I have a friend who builds high power engines out of 2 lite Volvo engines, and he doesn't have the money to spend on things he don't need and still he gets over 750rwhp out of them. I just want to see what can be done with the VQ35DE that's all

in to see how you do... Uprev can handle 500 hp level
You can get away with just building bottom end since 500 is your goal
Get used deals and do it all yourself, I dunno maybe do everything BUT the tune for 7k. I dont suggest cheaping out on the tune since your cheaping on parts.

Thanks Barnabas. Well I'm not sure 600cc injectors can take me there or not, but I wanna take it as far as they can handle. I guess I have to see what a tune will cost me and see if I can get it inside the $7,000

ok so....
-Built motor ~$2,600 including parts and machine work
-Turbo kit, you can make your own custom rear mount, I spent 1600 there. Ebay intercooler, used Holset turbo, a REAL(not ebay) wastegate, used BOV, piping from ebay as well, shurflo scavange pump for the oil return
-EMS = emanage ultimate with ignition harness ~400
-clutch, who knows, not experienced with that part, but say 1k(
)
- tune, hopefully you know how to tune, if not add another 500-1000
- labor, hope you do it all yourself including engine assembly and installing of everything
thats about 5,600 or so, then 1,400 for random crap you'll need.
Just giving you an idea of what I have spent, different car but pretty much same shet

I would like nothing better to see this work out, but be prepared for unanticipated costs. Here is a more complete list of what you might consider (much of which you have already listed):
built short block
head gaskets
head studs
turbo kit
fuel return system
fuel pump
injectors
larger radiator
oil cooler (recommended)
downpipes
exhaust system
clutch
wheels/tires - stock wheels/tires will not hold 500 hp very well.
Uprev
boost controller (recommended)
tune
This assumes that you will do all of the labor yourself.
