OK...need help fellas. i'm trying to install the middle up-pipe, and can't get it through. It looks like the 4-bolt flange is hitting the heat shields on the headers. Do these need to be removed, or am I just a bumbling moron?

EDIT:
after an hour of searching teh intranetz, i realized i was using the wrong piping for the mid up-pipe....FML

found the right piping, but still couldn't get it to fit the way it was supposed to. Went back to the pictures i previously found, and realized the stock exhaust manifolds have a heat shield on my car, which was A) not found on the other installs, and B) was never mentioned to be removed on the PowerLab instructions.l

took those off, and was able to get the piping in, but now it's hitting the steering column. gonna probably do a big of hammer massaging in the morning to avoid any rubbing, and get the clearance I need. Looks like i only need about 1/4 to 1/2" of additional clearance.

Hey man nice to see you making progress. I wanted to give you some guidance on the walbro install if you didnt do it yet. The link I posted is to cj motorsports (CJM). It shows you exactly how to mod your housing for the pump. They also have other helpful fuel system instructions.

Hope this helps

Maybe it's me I'm not sure. No many how many times we tried, the piping was hitting the shields. As soon as I removed it, I was able to get the pipe to fit. But now it hits the steering column. Gonna probably use a hammer for some adjustments if I can't get it to sit properly

There is a difference in steering rack from rev up and non rev up. Find out if your kit was for a rev up motor.... BTW u didn't let me know if u got rid of that hydra. There are different up pipes for rev up n non rev up.

The guy who I bought the kit from said it was for a rev-up coupe. But no matter how many times I rotate the piping and/or try different angles in bringing up the piping, a certain section always contacts the steering knuckle. even if i were to hypothetically "massage" that center section jsut to simply fit, i'm sure i'd encounter some serious rubbing.
i don't have a picture of it yet, but compared to the photo i posted, the left section of the piping is different; on this posted photo there appears to be a distinct curve present. the piping i have is just a straight section, with the same curve thats present on the right of the photo. is this the difference you're talking about between revup vs non-revup motors?
that was my fault; it just slipped my mind with everything thats been going on between the install and work. I did sell it for some cash and a UTEC.
