High Mileage Boosted VQ's
that was my run without my hpx maf sensor... and i redline at 5700 making 377whp... and than i went back and put the hpx in and tuned... and made 392 whp and 333wtq... Vince at r/t tuning can chime in and show the sheets... or akks350z(member name who videod this )
yeah its fine...what ems do u use? and in a month or so i will be upgrading to the 3.12 pulley and will probably rip anywhere from 425whp to maybe even 440+ whp.. nobody expected the power i made....now i wana see what happens with 3.12 .. and maybe even a set of some supersprint longtubes..
That's an oxymoron if I ever saw one. J/k I guess that has more to do with the variables than anything. A guy that bounces off the rev limiter with a stock block and factory balance at 22+ psi is probably going to be substantially shorter lived than the guy that get's on it occasionally but never abuses it boosting only 13-18 psi.
i went FI at 120k for about 10k and prolly would have lasted if i had an Uprev oil pump and kept a closer eye on my oil.. im built now... i always read "if ur high mileage... save the headache and go built now" but i was like eff that it will work.. and i got a headache

It's good to see people are having success with boosted VQ's and longevity. I bought mine with 20k boosted miles, but I think I'll be fine at my power levels with my built block
I'm laying down around 430rwhp but I'm getting a retune and I'll be getting detuned for more safety. I can probably put down 500rwhp safely with my setup but that is more than what I want for streets. I'm happy with 400rwhp, as that is more than handful.
The thing to remember when going FI is that you don't NEED that much power unless you plan on going drag racing. I doubt most people, including me, can use 100% of the VQ35's stock power, let alone more power with boost. So just keep it nice and conservative, enjoy the boost for a long time. I made fair bit of mistakes back in the days by going for too much power and then having to worry about things braking AND/OR ending up with too much of a car to handle on the streets which was no longer fun. I traded my 570awhp Evo for my current Z and I can't be more happy with it - I finally have a car that I can enjoy without driving like a maniac all the time - as Evo was no fun to cruise around with.
