Default 550+ rwhp street clutch

Whats everybody using for this power level? I was recommended the clutchmasters stg 3 fx300 by kyle at Import Parts Pro, but he said it was for "475+rwhp". I just really don't want to have to spend 2500 on a clutch and flywheel, but I don't wanna have to do a clutch job before I do my cd009 swap in a couple years. Any advice? I tried searching but I didn't see any threads about a clutch for this power level.

clutches are rated in trq fyi, but alot of guys have success with the jwt setup. a clutch setup shouldnt cost anywhere near 2500 unless you get a carbonetics multi disc setup. for 475rwtq youll be fine with jwt or other similar clutches

single face clutches dont seem to last very long with over 500rwtq plus a "all out" single face will be a lot more aggresive then a twin with less aggressive material from when i was "trying clutches"....i would suggest a spec/os giken twin disc...if u want to go all out i have a carbonetics triple disc and u wont dam near ever have to replace it...yes u have to pay to play

OS Giken twin, I'm at 550whp/570rwtq and daily drive it, sometimes in stop and go traffic. Engages nice, holds power, isn't super stiff, feels great all around.

Ive made over 440ft-lb on a 50k mile old JWT clutch/flywheel and hasn't slipped yet. But with the built block (in a couple weeks) i will be switching to the Z1 Twin Disk, ive driven several cars with this clutch and it drives very similar to my JWT with alot more power potential, and its very affordable http://www.z1motorsports.com/350_g35...oducts_id=4408

I have one, it's smoother than any single I driven so far but it very noisy...especially when releasing.

I got one for a friend as well, fitted at a different shop and same noise. a irritating rattling noise.

Did you notice or hear this when driving their car?

No i didn't, but like John said those cars have a higher idle because of big cams, you may want to try that. Glad to hear that went with that clutch, ill be installing mine within a couple of weeks so ill letcha know about the noise, but i will likely have a high idle too (C2 cams)

I used a comp clutch stage 4 (which is pretty much the same as clutchmasters fx400) and it failed with track use pretty fast. It didn't last me a month before it was having issues on my 450/370 vortech.

since then i've switched to an os giken twin and put more power down and no issues at all. The only manufacturer of a single disk that holds a candle is southbend. The others are just inflated numbers in my opinion.

They might hold 500ftlbs on a street driven car with street tires that slip when you get on it but if you put sticky tires on it and actualy hook up at the track that clutch won't come close to holding 500tq
