Default Procharger boost levels for stock block

I just picked up a procharger set up for my 03 G35. I am stock right with the exception of exhaust, plenum and spacer, and pop charger. I am looking to make around 420 whp with the kit, but am not sure which pulleys to order to do so. It is on the stock 6psi pulleys right now, and done know if I should go to 8 or 10psi to reach my goals. Does anyone know which would be the best to do? I just want to join the 400whp club lol. I will be picking up another block and starting a build this winter, but want to be here for now. I have a walbro inline pump to add and 380cc injectors as well as an aeromotive fmu. Any opinions or guidance will be greatly appreciated!!

If you are building your engine, you already made a mistake by purchasing a S/C kit. If it is still new, sell it and start looking for a ST kit or a TT kit. Also, do some research if you end up buying a ST kit.

I already have the procharger kit, as I picked it up for next to nothing with 4k miles on it total. And it was just rebuilt by ATI about 1k miles ago. I will be using this kit for now, and may swap kits between cars over the winter. We just got an 04 turbonetics turboed G35 sedan this week. I may swith that kit over to my car this winter and put the procharger back on the sedan. But for now with my car, I will be using the procharger.

srsly this was an interesting read; I didn't know prochargers couldn't really go over 400.

Why did it need a rebuild after only 3-4 thousand miles?

he had it on a leased car and I guess it wasnt rebuilt...moreso looked over by procharger. he took the kit off and sent it in to have it checked over and they sent it back. I have the papers saying everything is at factory spec on it and good to go. He put it back on for a thousand miles and the lease was up so he sold it.

Most of the SC setup making the 400whp range are the Vortech setups...I haven't heard much on the procharger side of things; I have heard that even if you pulley down the procharger for more boost you'll be eating belts because of the mounting bracket flexing on that setup...

Meh...I ordered the 10psi pulley and will be making a bracket to reinforce the mounting bracket between the sc and my strut tower. I wil just run this til winter and will more than likely sell it this winter and go with twins.

That's the way to go then; GL with that...BTW, I didn't get a chance to ship your Walbro yesterday; I'll PM you the tracking number later today for sure...

Also, here's a thread of a guy who made about 400whp with his procharger...you'll may find a few more of these threads by searching...

A local guy just made >400whp on a dyno dynamics with a procharger with bad seals that was spitting oil all over the place (another reason I hate superchargers on the VQ... whether it's belt dust or leaks they are plain messy). Supporting mods were 600cc's, walbro, test pipes and cams. Not so sure he would have broke 400whp without the cams.

Problem with the procharger kit (aside from the already mentioned pulley and belt issues at higher boost levels) is the fact that it does not come with proper management. I'm sorry but an inline band-aid pump and a fuel pressure cranker just aint kosher.

If you want that stock block to last some real engine management with some timing control.

I’m no expert with FI or the Procharger, but I did come across the following info...
Also, I say if you can find a good deal on a FI setup, jump on it!

The basics to get 400whp...

"No bro! no built block.
Engine: 550cc inj, cosworth plenum, aam fuel return, headers, invidia exhaust, utec, test pipes, tranny and oil cooler, high stall torque converter, valvebody upgrade, throttle body, Denso plugs, technosquare reflash, walbro. Pretty much it.....thats revelant to your question. I never planned to build internals, just hit the 400whp mark thats it. You on the other hand have the build to do what you need to do good luck dawg!!"

And the basic boosts # and various pully info to get there...

Forgot to mention he was using Uprev for the tuning (none of the crap the kit normally comes with in terms of fuel mods). To be honest I was surprised by the results... but taking into account he had JWT cams (not sure which) the numbers seemed reasonable.

Let me see if I have learned anything in a year or so of reading.

600cc DW, Walbro 255, Plugs, Osiris or Utec, Test pipes, 10psi + tune= High 3's?

What gauges are you running?

Good to see you came over here to find a few guys with experience with Prochargers.

Anyone else hear of a Procharger making 750hp
