Nissan backed Supercharger
My Nissan dealer told me today that they would be offering a supercharger for the 350Z after the 1st of the year. They said they had a memo from Nissan to all dealers informing them of this.
They said that the supercharger would NOT void the factory warranty.
They were unable to give me a price, projected HP output, or maker of the S/C, but said that that information would be available right after the 1st of Jan.
Has anyone else hear this? Can anyone provide additional information?

I don't think that JimmyBevis saying that his dealer has a memo from Nissan coincides with DreamWorkes wanting to go through dealers unless the above statement is true. Is that what you are saying? Also, I will confirm with our dealership tomorrow. If what you insinuate is true, Jason, that will be awesome! I have been leaning towards this supercharger and getting it at cost would suit me fine.

So you are saying that DreamWorkes has petitioned Nissan North America to supply a corporate directive to all of the Nissan dealers in North America to sell their supercharger and Nissan has agreed?

But his dealer must have heard about it.. I posted about it before..
They are in the process of getting it approved for Nissan and Inffiniti dealers to install and do the warranty work..
I will give more info when I can.
For now, all that I said and all that is in the previous thread which I will post a link to in this thread is all i can say in this thread thread thread.

My point was that he said his dealer received a memo from Nissan. If they did then it is something different from what he may have heard somewhere, here or elsewhere.
And yes, I am very inclined to believe that this is all BS. We'll see I guess.
A 3 rd party insurance company will insure the warrantee paid for I suppose by profits from each unit sold. The dealers are asked to sell it for profits much as all dealers sell different motor oils. I very much Doubt think Nissan USA (never mine Japan) will back anything they don't indeed make or directly profit from. To many hands and too much to lose.
Dreamworks is hyping all of this and I doubt, we ever see it fly. Dreamworks must be a very small company or garage remember earlier this year they were looking for a volunteers car. What R&D company backed by Nissan would need a car or a volunteer for BUT i GUESS IN AMERICA ANY THING COULD HAPPEN.
Tooth ferry's don't hang out on boards..

Hi! MR Twisted!
Not saying it all BS.... Some one believes it enough to devote money and energy into hyping it but I doubt the big money guys will buy into it. The idea sounds great and maybe had a chance in say, 1800 something but in todays business climate I doubt the Banks would take a chance... But this is AMERICA and pigs can fly here,,,,,,but it takes bigggg money and I doubt these guys got it or could get it....I saw there SEMA booth,

well..assuming it doesnt go through...does that mean any 5AT owner that is thinking of FI should have an extra stack of cash just in case it fries our car?
i knew that getting an automatic would kill me
this is the 3rd time
1. excitement factor
2. no such thing as a flywheel in a 5at (so scratch that upgrade
3.if you want FI then too bad
BTW...what is th equivalent to the flywheel in an 5AT car...??

A lot of works tuning comes from smaller companies subcontracted by manufacturers. AMG wasn't always part of MB. TRD never built their own blowers for the tacoma and solara. The upcoming Saturn Ion line of tuned cars don't get their performance from the factory. You may never have heard of these small companies and no OEM manufacturer has any duty to disclose who does what for the cars if it's warrantied by them.
All of it remains to be seen and if you remember, I have stated before that I hope DW's can deliever the claims they are making.
On the otherhand, remember that Jim Wolf is making Nismo Cams. Wouldnt you think Nissan would put an engineering crew on it themselves? Well, they didnt so this is within the realm of being possible.
There are a lot of discussions on products that cannot be posted on line because until negotiations are settled on aftermarket or factory products, it is not a benefit for those involved to give specific details.
DW SC has been in development for a long time. The claims can be called hype if you are that type of person or it can be called doing it the right way if you are so inclined.
DW's does claim to have several TRD engineers now working for them. Based on that information it would certainly give them credientials to design a high quality product worthy of review by Nissan.
The bottom line is the people that do not know the details are just speculating and the people that do know details cannot give them to us at this point.
The best thing to do is wait and not flame each other which is just a waste of time. The good part is January is not far away so the answer is just around the corner. Keep your fingers crossed.

hmmm, at the sema IAS, I was talking to the Garrett reps, who had been working on a g35coupe but the project was shelved due to lack of funding from nissan. They said they would probably get back to it on their own some day, so I asked what the hp goal would be. The guys answer was, 'since nissan is coming out with 350hp next year, probably about 400'.
related or not? hmmm.
Alpine development does a lot of work for manufacturers.
