Default Vortech plus Apexi VAFC

I wonder if using an Apexi S-afc II will interfere with the function of the timing computer that comes with the kit. I know on some MAF equipped cars the AFC changes the voltage at the MAF to trick the ecu to think there is more or less airflow......then giving more or less timing advance combined with an injector pulse width alteration. I wonder if they would fight one another for timing control.

You can't control timing via injector pulse modification. Timing refers to ignition (i.e. spark). The AFC is not capable of altering timing.

But as an example.....the EVO 8 ecu changes timing when the MAS signal is changed by the AFC. If you lean out the AFC , this gives a lower voltage to the ecu corresponding to less air coming into the engine and a lower engine load. To correspond to the decreased load the ecu advances timing. So, the more you increase or decrease the voltage to the ecu.....the more or less the ecu will change timing to correspond to perceived load. I wonder if Nissan has a similar feature in their VQ.

Not true. Fuel and ignition timing are calculated by the ecu as a relationship...as one changes, so does the other.

the s-afc2 controls the fuel maps, you can adjust the fuel curve with these.

A VAFC which the thread is labed does this put also controls the high and low cam, which allows v-tec to kick is sooner. A VAFC is made for honda's not G35's

yeah, but the post I was referring to implied that you could change timing by altering the injector pulse-width signal post-ECU, which isn't true.

But the SAFC is pre-ecu
