Hey guys Im new to the vq35de. Im looking to go with a set of 2860rs turbos. Im looking for 600 whp. Im wonder Can I GET by with 9;1 airs pistons or will I need something lower for this goal. My build will be simple just doing built bottom end stock cams and valves. Just your surporting mods like 3 inch exhaust and gtm manifolds! Fuel return and right size injectors of corse Im wonder what psi give or take to hit 440 for low boost and what psi give or take will hit the 600 area? Thanks in advance
Much love to the carolinas, but you gotta search. There are so many build lists/shop posts you could cookie cut your build. Research first then ask if you don't understand something. And I'm not sure a manifold is a supporting mod as much as it is a necessity (depending on the setup).

I did search on some of the things but did not find solid answers. I'm about 4-5 hours from Wilmington. I'm just trying to gather the info so I can start my build ill be assembling my engine and geting turbos fitted. I'm new to the vq35 but not new to z's I build my 300 zx it makes about 550 on 18psi with hks 2530's which are comparable. to the 2860 rs . I can't wait to feel what the z33 will feel like with same power. Well ill keep looking around for info. Thanks for yalls help so far and if you have anymore chime in please
600 is doable but its not going to be easy, you'll probably need cams/valve springs retainers, along with a fully built bottom end, and definitely less than 9:1 CR. I'd go with 8:5 or at the highest 8.8, it will let you push timing more. (I have a buddy with a set of forged cosworth 8:1 pistons he's selling on G35driver if you want to run as much boost as possible, PM me for details) You're going to need a full fuel return system and 800cc injectors (or something similar, the 725 Injector Dynamics are sweet) to make 600, good luck looks like you've got a lot of reading to do

You won't need cams to make over 600whp thom000001 did it with stock cams but I think he needed 30psi to do it. So they are not needed but it would be easier with them. 9.1:1 would work for that kind of power most would say 8.5:1 is better but I did it on 9.1:1 but with a 100mm bore.

It might take more than you would think being a low comp motor with tiny turbos, im thinking 10ish.
I laugh at people that ask "what boost is your car running". Like they would know how each psi for my engine, with my turbo, housing, heads, etc would react. Small turbo on 19psi is far less power than a large turbo at 10psi due to flow. Same turbo with a larger housing will produce more power with less boost pressure as well. Boost pressure is so relative that it's pointless to even talk about it.
also, compression ratio is relative to your build as well. There are plenty of cars with high compression boosted motors. It depends on many things in your setup with octane being the highest. You won't necessarily make more power on 8:1 pistons with more boost than you would with 9:1 compression with less boost. You need more octane for higher compression and generally for the same power output will run lower boost pressure.
For pumpgas you really won't notice a difference from 8.5-9.5 that is offered for our cars so just pick the pistons based on what the engine builder recommends, your power goals, and your budget.

that is impossible to determine. every car is different, every dyno is different. Boost numbers are only a number. Tune to hp/tq and forget what boost it is.

Why GT2860rs? Why not GT2871s like a lot of the kits for our platform. I think the 60 is going to make it difficult to break 6's. I have 2871s with .86hot side, larger compressor side and custom piping, i made 620rwhp+ on pump. While a stock APS car (basically same built block) with smaller .63 hot side and tiny compressor housing only makes ~570rwhp on pump (which I still think would outperform GT2860s)

I was thinking of the gt2871 But was not sure How they would work on the vq They are shitty on the vg30dett They are real laggy and power band is not that fat! Im looking for something That would maybe make 650whp after cams and some other mods!. Im looking for full boost by 3400-3800 rpms. I have a 700 hp Vgdett now I have hks 2530 (Aka modded 2860rs) So I was hoping that the 2860 would were well with the vq Maybe spool a little fast than my vg which gets full boost at 3800 And will lay 700whp.
