Default online store not honoring HKS EVC price on website

This past weekend I placed an online order for a HKS EVC VI - 45003-AK005. The price on the website was $539.49

I called on Monday to get the tracking number and they tell me the order was canceled. They have already charged my card and I have the invoice in my email. They said they canceled my order because the price on the website was wrong.

The told me they would sell it to me for a little over 600. My question is can they cancel my order like that?

Sure they can cancel your order but they can't charge you for something they aren't going to send you.

They said the money would go back on my card. I just thought since my card was charged the sale was final and they would have to sell me the boost controller at the price I originally bought it for.

IMO it's bad business. They should take the hit and honor the price since they didn't update their online prices. Now they have lost a customer and referrals over less than $100.

They prolly have automated process to charge your card..you'll get a credit.
They really *should* only charge the card when it's shipped..but that's not a sure thing. Yes..they can cancel an order. If you still want it for higher price, why don't to call and have em just add the difference....IF...they haven't already issued a credit.

They sold it to me for their cost which was still more than what the price was online. I just wanted to know if what they did was bad business or was against the law. Thanks for the feedback guys.

not when its online.

It happens. If its too good to be true when u see aprice online, call them. Why would you chance it?

There are price changes all the time as the discount programs to vendors are often based on volume guarantees monthly, etc.
I know the discount plans for import parts manufactureres are up and down ALL the time.
They caught it early at least and did the right thing, stopping everything there and giving you the direct info.

If you signed something like a contract, then thats different.
You got it at their cost, so now you know what the true cost of the part is, so by asking for the lower price, now youre screweing them.. and thats just as bad of business karma wise.

Were all men among men... just expecting the lower price to be offered is an old Yiddish lady at the grocery store complaining about the price of a carton of eggs type of deal.

Thats my opinion is all.

You got cost, they got none, AND paid 3% to visa at the end of the month for your purchase too.

Im not banging on you OP, just showing the other side of the coin so youl feel better about your outcome.

I have had this happen several times with internet orders. Infrequent but it happens. You place an internet order, then get a call to "verify the order." The call is always to up-sell sell you or some kind of BS.

I always say "No thank you cancel my order."
