Yes there will be more lag from my understanding since the turbo requires to spin faster to yield the same amount of pressure. Good thing I have a positive displacement supercharger to take care of that.

Death valley would be more dense if it is under sea level. Air has weight ( or pressure) the same as water has weight(or pressure). That is why the deeper you go in water the more psi is forcing in on itself.

Yea I got way off your original topic there talking physics of turbos and forgot you had that SC in there still. So what you are saying is that the worlds fastest cars will be faster in death valley? I would say it stands to reason that if for every 1000 ft up you lose power for every 1000 feet down you gain? lol.

Unfortunately death valley is very hot... cold air is more dense than hot, so the D/A might actually still be above sea level. At sea level with cold weather (e.g. where I'm at) is far better than below sea but super hot. In fact, we get D/A's of -1500ft or less at times.

The guy was pretty quick at the mouth and if he hasn't jumped in yet... it became a VIED.

Heres what the front end came out looking like.

Does anyone think the low sitting air filter will cause any issues with hydrolock in downpours or if im on a road trip and I drive for say a hundred miles in the rain?

If you stay out of pools of water and you're not slammed it should be fine. Personally I would avoid driving in bad weather, as both of my intakes are like that. heavy downpours I reduced my speed just to be careful.

I was thinking of building an aluminum or stainless steel shroud for it. I think it would look good and i would feel safer. But not sure its necessary or not.

If anything just close off the front so you won't directly ingest blasts of water from other vehicles and what not if you get caught in a downpour. Nothing will stop hydrolock if you drive through something too deep though. And common sense applies... avoid boost or heavy throttle in rain, aside from traction don't suck in water faster than you need to LOL.

try doing a powerlabs set up with a small vent above the FMIC.

this is what I did with my G. The Z guys do it with a small Carbon Fiber vent thingie in the top of the bumper.

sorry for the huge pic. lol

I have spoke with SuperZ and got an update. His car is running and he has 900 miles on it. He tuned off of MAF since hes missing the MAP sensor and is putting down what he thinks to be 400whp on a safe tune with retarded timing, no dyno yet. He says it pulls hard in low RPM's and by 3500 you can feel the turbo take over and puts you into your seat through the high range. Says its fun as hell.

Anyway sounds like his engine held and his system worked out for him. Were not going to get any numbers from him as he does deploy soon and is putting his car into storage this weekend till he returns.

Im firing mine up possibly tonight or Friday with a base map to test for issues. Then im praying i can get it on the dyno Saturday.
