Wow, $1k for a retune seems outrageous! Im lucky if I even pay $200 for a retune. Nice numbers by the way!

Holy powerful car. This thread has made me reconsider the capability of SC motors.

Now for the million dollar question - - can you get to the V3 supercharger oil dipstick to check the level from under the hood of the car.

I can hardly reach the dipstick from the open hood of my car and to really check the oil level or change the supercharger oil on my V3, I pretty much have to remove the inner wheel well on the front/ drivers side.

Does your setup have the same problem?

yes using the 3.125 pulley and it hit 12.5psi at 7200rpms on the dyno but when im running it on the street the highest i have seen is 9psi.

yeah its expensive but i havent seen another Z on here that came within 15whp of my car with the same mods.

What kind of rpm's do you need to have the engine winding before you go from vacuum to 0 and then to positive boost on your AEM boost gauge?

I seem to drive around in vacuum well up to 2500 rpm then the gauge sits at zero for a while and I only start to really see boost at around 3500 - 4000 rpm.

Since I have never had a supercharger on this or any of my cars previously I'm just curious if that is typical for yours too as we both are running the 3.125 pulley on a V3 Vortech.

I don't often wind my engine much above 6500 rpm and at that rpm I'm only showing about 5 or maybe 6 lbs. of boost.

Is your car and tune similar?

Thanks!

My car stays in vacuum pretty much all the time no matter the rpms. the only time it will build boost is if i want it to. for instance it will only make positive boost if i put the gas pedal on or close to the floor. but when i do this it makes boost instantly. I love this set up, so much more reliable for the car.

it will only build boost based on load and rpm. The bypass valve does not close until there is enough load on the engine to bring the vacuum up to 3-4" Hg or less.

Once that closes, boost is 100% related to rpm. So it wont make boost instantly unless you have enough rpms.

I think i had ~2psi at 3200 rpms. I posted impeller rpm vs boost charts for various pulley combinations in some of my older supercharger threads. That way you can predict exactly how much boost you will at a given rpm for any pulley setup.

I was also curious about where you found room to mount your oil catch can?
I have a Mishimoto piece that looks similar to yours and I don't see too many options for where to mount it that running the hoses wont be problematic.

we just ditched it, there was absolutely no room to mount it anywhere. it was too big and wasnt gonna do much if anything at all.

I figured out how to mount my ARC V2 in the center off the rad support. Could prolly mount any of them there, but might help if you have a aftermarket fan shroud.

FYI at Hill's Garage, Frank's DynoDynamics is calibrated to output DynoJet numbers. Although it's not exact (it appears to read higher than DynoJet in my experience) there is technically no 'conversion' needed with their dyno.

Thanks for the feedback on the catch can locations.

I just took a look again on my car and I think the Mishimoto can is just too big to work in my car with the Vortech and everything else packed in there(that's why I bought their smaller size catch can unit which I thought would work).

I'm going to see if I can pick up an ARC (preferably version 1) unit if someone decides to part out their car.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Frank told me that their dyno reads exactly 11% higher then a different type of dyno, i do not recall what brand he said though.
