If only the TN kits weren't trash. I will guess that within 2-3 months he will be overboosting (won't know since he probably won't have any guages), and in 5-6 months have a new window in the block.

You will look cool until someone calls you out on the Turbonetics kit... After that, you will just look like a fool again.

I agree. It's your DD, just get a supercharger kit and be done with it. They're known to be easier on cars than TCs and depending on the kit, require less maintenance and are generally cheaper, easier install. Sure you may put down lesser numbers but again it's your DD. Where you gonna go on the streets where you want to let the turbo open up? With SC the power's always there, good for the streets imo.

+1

The Turbonetics kit is inferior to the other turbo kits on the market and therefore is not very respected within the VQ community. So it definitely wouldn't be the best choice for the stated purpose of showing off or looking cool at meets.

Everyone has given you info that you can use, it's stupid idea backed by an even more ridiculous premise . But you are obviously going through with it anyway....

Guess you want the respect ...to some people that's more important

Don't forget to replace that POS Turbonetics wastegate with something better like a TiAL, Turbosmart, or Precision wastegate. I'd replace with a matching BOV while you're at it too.

Yep. If any of you remember Taurran, he upgraded his Turbonetics kit. By the time he addressed/resolved all the shortcomings, he had replaced or changed virtually the entire kit ...and still made only 500's with it.

I don't think Taurran is active on the forum anymore.

For a single turbo app on a VQ with one wastegate, you shouldn't do anything smaller than a 44mm TiAL MV-R wastegate. The Turbosmart Hyper-gate 45mm and the Precision PW46 would be comparable choices.

Here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna get a PL Kit and install it WHEN I have the money saved back to rebuild the engine, just in case. That's the way to go about it, imo. If you don't have the money set back to rebuild your engine, then you shouldn't be messing with FI.
