Help: upping the boost
Thanks guys. Yea the tuner said it would be about 250$ for the retune which I was fine with. I am going with a guy locally who has be a nissan tuner for a long time and built some 350's before with uprev so I do not feel that the i should be worried with that. I got the r tune thermostat to be on the safe side (dont know if i truly need it) due to the fact when i bring my z from a run in summer it is super hot just trying to get the temp down. I just had the tranny completely rebuilt too so i do not think i need to address any issues there. The only thing i feel that needs to be addressed is the cooling component of the engine. I do not track it just go to local shows/there a strip once a month that i could race if i wanted but have not done that yet and pulls here and there. Im pumped for tom should have a complete right up from when i got z to now with the new results.
If you're not spending extended periods of time at wide-open-throttle (like, at a track), I doubt you will have cooling issues. The periods of time on the street spent beating on it will not likely be long enough to get the heat up to an unmanageable level.
Lower temp thermostat won't keep the car cooler. After 160* it will be wide open just like the oem one is wide open after 180*. That's it. Once your car is up to operating temp the car will run at the same temp as a car with a normal thermostat. It only prolongs the engine from heating up a little longer. These cars run around 200* under boost which is above the opening temp of all thermostats.
