Help: upping the boost
Alright guys I have a momentum kit. I got it installed on my 04 5at in the last week of July this year to only 4 psi. My z is currently getting the transmission completely rebuilt since I somehow blew it on only 4 psi putting down 310whp. My goal is to be around the 370-380 whp area. I am going to get it retuned within the next couple of weeks and want to make sure I have everything before I drop another 600 for the tune.
The Kit has:
Garrett GT35R with TiAL 1.03 A/R stainless v-band housing
Intercooler: Custom high fin density bar and plate (9” x 22” x 3.25”)
Wastegate: TiAL MV-R
Blow-off-valve: TiAL Q 50mm
Downpipe: 3″ 304 stainless with spare O2 bung for wideband installation
Up-pipe: 2 1/4” 304 stainless
Intake/Charge Piping: 3″ 6061 Aluminum with an integrated billet MAF housing
Injectors: DeatschWerks 600cc
Fuel Pump: Walbro 255
Tune: UpRev
Tranny:
Gtm's Transmission cooler
Upgraded internals :
clutch packs
Torque converter
valve body
etc....
I do not want to do anything to the engine at this time internally. Anything I may want to also add to my setup before the retune that you guys would recommend for my desired output of 370 to 380? I was thinking maybe a plenum spacer just to help with the airflow in the engine but i cannot think of anything else.
Thanks again.

thanks for the response what do you think about getting a plenum since their 80$ off right now at z1 just for airflow help?
There is no real need right now for the spacer. From what I am told, it does help air flow to the 2 front cylinders. But being that you are FI, I think that it may not be needed.
I could be completly wrong.

yea im not going to get it for hp gain just the airflow for the 2 cylinders but i am curios if the airflow gained to the front 2 is a significant increase from the amount they get now.
You will see a few HP gain. Not significant at all. I have a Kinetix V+ plenum on mine. When I was NA I noticed Nothing at all. Actually i noticed a decrease in performance, then I had it tuned. After I felt like I spent all that money on nothing. Meaning if felt the same as stock to me. I say just save the few $$$ and enjoy the new found power with the new trans build and the increased PSI.. You will have pleanty of power on tap..

Ur tranny upgrades r great and are more than enough for ur specific power goals. I'm surprised stock tranny didnt hold out at such a low boost level. This is the first time I've ever heard someone running 4lbs lol.
haha i wanted to get the kit on for the price i got installed and tuned but i knew the 5at trannys suck so i just wanted to have fun with it then build it when it blew did not take long as you can see last week in July to first weekend in october.
I agree to save the money. The only reason I run mine is because I already had it installed when NA. With FI you are forcing the air so power output increase will be negligible.
Thanks everyone for the replies. I must have not been clear enough. I know the plenum will not add hp that is not why i would purchase it. I would purchase for the gaining more noticeable airflow to the top 2 cylinders and am asking would i gain significant airflow to the top 2 cylinders then without installing it. Sorry for the confusion
If you do get a plenum spacer... go with the Motordyne 5/16 Basic (Plenum Spacer and gasket in one)... more than enough head room and seems to be the spacer of choice for FI. I had a custom Fat plenum (3" Tall) before when I was NA and lost close to 40whp on dyno with FI. I then went back to stock plenum and gained some of it back but the best results were with 5/16 spacer.
How do you plan on raising your boost? Spring? I would recommend an EBC if you have the cash for it. You'll be able to fine tune the delivery of the boost better than just a spring change.

I havent up dated this in awhile but i bought the nismo r tune low temp thermostat and did not end up getting the spacer friday is tuning days should hopefully have a video and dyno for you guys

FYI, not sure whose doing the tuning and how much 5AT/uprev experience they have but make absolutely sure your tuner is setting up the load % tables correctly for a 5AT. If not, your TC will either lock up too late or not at all and you'll blow the 5AT built or not. That said if you've got dyno sheets on a roller style dyno it should be fairly easy to tell what the TC is doing (or not). Hub dynos are not so easy to tell.
