cluster delete, need a resistor
Like the title says I know you have to add a resistor to delete the stock cluster since I'm ditching my can system. Anyone what what pins it needs to go to?
subscribing for any info, doing the same thing, hopefully next month when I get the car back, if you find out anything please let us know
Look it up in your FSM, it will be different depending on year/model. I'm guessing you need to bypass the can +/- lines at the ECU.
actually looking a it again i think i might have found it, unplug the connector and read the resistance to pin 3, as well as verify voltage and i should be able to just run a power wire with resistor and fuse from the new fuse block. that will let me ditch the ecu and combination meter to start, then once i get the lights and rest of the engine rewired ill be able to get rid of all the stock junk like ipdm, abs, bcm and all the other unneeded crap

if you are ditching the CAN bus then how are your fans and wipers (AC if it is still there) going to work, even your lights run off the CAN bus... if your reply is re-wire everything then just run a jumper from your B+ to the A terminal... it will be energized all the time but hey, its working...
yah im rewiring everything have a couple flashers and sockets already and going to order a painless switch for the wipers. i figured there would be a voltage difference to the terminal looking at the fsm since theres a resistor in the unified meter? turbo is at precision atm getting the 66 wheel so i cant run the car without making a mess at the moment. but its hardly what most would consider a street car anymore even though i drive it regularly.
as it is theres a jumper and fuse for the running lights because the new ipdm had some issues also
