addding a cooler will help - How much are you looking to spend?

I run two coolers - a 12" x 8" x 1" and a cooler that is integrated into my radiator(C&R Racing Radiator)…

You can buy a kit for $300-$500 and be perfectly set. I piece-mealed a sandwich plate, a radiator and hoses together for mine. Pretty simple - if you wanted to go that route with yours I could point you in the right direction, feel free to PM me.

The simplest way to go is a Stillen oil cooler for $370. My temps are usually at 190 in the city, 135 on the hwy, and never above 230 at the track. It's a 19 row Setrab with -8AN lines. If for some reason you need better cooling then you should get a 34 row Setrab, -10AN Earl's lines, and a sandwich adapter that supports -10AN lines. Up to you if you want to (or need to) spend the extra money.

135 seems way too low for a running temp. Thicker oil = more friction, but using a synthetic, where viscosity changes are smaller, might negate some of that. Why no thermostat?

The Stillen has a thermostat. I'm not sure at what temp it opens up at. I usually see 140 on the fwy in the early morning or late night going 80 with no cars in front. I run 5w30 full synthetic.

EDIT: The Stillen sandwich plate is probably similar to the Mocal sandwich plate, which only closes 50% until reaching temperature. That 50% flow is probably what's keeping my temps so low on the highway.

If your looking to save money, and not buy into a name, mishimoto makes a 10 row oil cooler for $199 http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ne&prodid=4115
And the 19 row for $330http://www.importimageracing.com/mis...universal.html
I have a friend that has the larger cooler on his Z, and he's had no problems. I have their radiator hoses in my car..
You could also buy the core for under $100 and peice it together yourself for about $200.

The 50% flow is to keep temperature shock from happening (bunch of cold oil entering hot engine oil=bad).

I wouldn't run anything less than -10 lines on an oil cooler. Have seen some bad things on -8 on other engines. I'm sure -8 is plenty for most people but on my build I wouldn't accept anything less than -10.

Z1 offers a multitude of options using -10AN lines and a Setrab core. Both GTM and Stillen use -8AN lines - and from the threads I've looked at the minimum recommended is 10.

You could always piece together your own kit too, but the pricing you come out to will be pretty much in line with Z1's kit. You can get the cores, lines, fittings, etc. from here:

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/

.. and someone here pieced together a kit for $315
