HELP intercooler pipe on HR
Well I bought an STS rear mount kit and I knew that it wasn't a direct fit for an hr engine. I mocked everything up today and the turbo and pipe up to about the rear of the seats fits good, but from there forward it looks like I'm going to have to custom bend some pipe. The sts manual shows the pipe going around the transmission and between the suspension arms on the passenger side and then cutting a hole in the fender well for the pipe to go through into the front bumper for the IC. I attached that pipe on the bolt bracket on it and when I turned my wheel one way it was fine, but when turned more than about 3/4 of the way in the other direction it started to touch the pipe so that's no good.
I need some info from you guys on how to get the charge piping from the turbo to the IC in the front bumper. I want to avoid an oil filter relocation kit if at all possible, though as of now that looks like the only route that will work.
I would like to keep the route the sts for de's take if there's a way, I don't know if that pipe (or a completely new custom made one) can be bent more or less to make it work without touching the a arms.
Did the a arms/ sway bars/ suspension change that much if any on the hr's to make this pipe not fit? I did this with the car on a lift (suspension not compressed) will this make a difference and with the car on the ground would it not touch?
I've attached some pics of what I am referring to. The red line is how the pipe I am referring to runs now on the de cars and the yellow is the part that hits it when turning. It bolts up fine as you can see and looks like it would work fine, only when you turn one way it starts to hit one of the suspension arms.
Maybe some sts or HR gurus could help with this.. the only other place I see to run it would be right by the oil filter and that means an oil filter relocation which I do not want to do.
