So the intercooler just contains and cools the water???And the water cools the supercharger intake??

Default Re: Air to air better?

But the water will get heated from the intake, the heat soak from the blcok to the intake to the water will make the water at least 100 degrees. So my premise is still valid. Water will not be able to cool as well as Air to Air.

Wouldnt that limit the cooling to the temperature of the water? Since air flowing in from the front could be 50 to worse case in Texas 100 degrees outside, wouldnt a air to air be more effective?
I doubt the water ever gets any cooler than 100 after the car is running.

Dude, trust me, you are not valid.

Try to grasp this. Turbos, Vortex(snell type) superchargers are blowthrough systems. They suck air in and blow it using a turbine. The blowing air is routed to the intake. As soon as the air leaves the unit, it is hot. The air can then pass through a intercooler or whatever cooling system possible on it's way to the intake.

Now, the roots type that Stillen has used sits right on top of the upper plenum. In a sence it's a 'sucking' system. It's sucking air. As soon as the air hits the supercharger, it's hot, but it's also already at the intake. You can't have an air to air system. With water you have waterpump circulating the water. There is nothing to circulate the air unless you have a blower. In order to achieve any efficient cfm, depending on what power source you use, you need a blower as big as your motor. It just can't be done.

In order you to understand the differences in the 2 different types of intercoolers, it's not how they work, they both work the same. It's a heat exchanger. The key is understanding how the forced induction is set up.

So no, you are not valid. You are wrong. You need to do a little research before stating such finite statements.

It is amazing how someone can become so rude, just become a fellow member states a different opinion.
I though it was a trait only seen on other forums, but now I see it is a comman trait among many people who can not respect anothers view.
As I was stating, a air to air system will be more efficent than a air to water system.
That being said, I understand a roots or screw type blower are limited to only being able to use a water cooling system.
This being your only choice, it is better than nothing at all.
Although on any other FI a air to air is generally better. So lighten up, when fellow members are just trying to express opinions.

So, m3powerrr, is there a technical reason you are selling the Stillen supercharger?

Nope. Our goal was to reach the full potential of the stillen setup. Since we did that, it's time to move on to bigger and better things. We're going to pull the moror and really get into some high numbers. If anyone wants it, it's a good deal.

is 340rwhp not REAL power?? Then a Z06 dosent make REAL power either because I beleive thats about what they have at the wheels. If its not what is? A funny car or a Dragster? Making REAL power is in the eyes of the beholder, some will consider 340RWHP REAL power and some not.

#1...It wont blow up...
#2 Stillen is a POS
#3 you dont even have any FI so shut up...
#4 why would someone put a Stillen SC on then a month later sell it..Cause it SUCKS???

I have seen numerous ATI dyno's and time slips..Where are all the Stillen DYNO's and time slips...The reason you heard so many bad things about ATI and felt you needed to make an uneducated and ignorant comment,is becaust the number of ATI owners is far Greater than the # of Stillen owners..If there were nearly as much Stillen SC's out there you would hear of a few failures also..

DAMN what a beautiful Z! love how those Defi white faces match up with the painted gauge pod. hows the accuracy on the A/F gauge? ever compare it to the A/fs from the dyno? im looking into an actual gauge, like yours, or just a FJO wideband O2

Default Headers

This is why you need aftermarket headers.

Stillen vs Stock. Stock is not of equal length.

I have no idea whether engine heat is ever a problem, but if it is, and if the designer of the blower actually knows what he's doing, he can prevent this with a bit of properly placed insulating material of some sort. Your premise hinges only on a poorly designed setup.

Due to water's properties, air/water actually cools much better than air/air, but once the water becomes heat saturated the setup will take longer to recover. Whether this happens depends on the radiator.
