Default My GReddy TT is in...have a question.

Hey all. After about 6 weeks i finally got my GReddy kit with FMIC yesterday...unfortunatley...i wont be home for about a week...but I used the time last night to build shrines for my turbos. I had a few questions about things i read on the kit.

1) The TT kit instructions stated the kit would run boost pressure between .40 and .45 kg/cm2 and the intercooler instructions state the kit will run boost of .50 to .60 kg/cm2 of boost.. Why is this?

2) The kit states in bold AS OF 11/25/03 THIS KIT IS NOT STREET LEGAL. I thought GReddy was working on making it legal and why would they loose it...refering to the first two words AS OF?

Also my kit came with a few things I thought it wouldn't. I got an oil pan with pre-drilled holes for the turbos...and you know what I can't remember now...but there were about two or three things that I was suprised to see in the kit (In a good way).

I scheduled the installation for February 16th, and it should be done the 18th or 19th, I got lucky...someone I know is only charging me $250 for the install.....its family though...like i said I got lucky.

Thats all I have for the kit...I will have an EGT a Boost Gauge and another gauge...I'm not sure what the 3rd one will be...any suggestions?

I remember another question...I have the le mans sunset color...i would like to possibly change the color of the blue rubber connections around the pipe...to maybe red or orange or black...dunno...anyone have an idea besides paint that will probably crack?

I was also told you could adjust timing w/e-manage is this true?

I'll post the pics of my kit next week when I get back home...but you've already seen it anyway.. jsut not at my house.

Congratz! I see you're around my area. Hopefully, we'll see you on some meets this year so we can see that turbo?

My assumption is they mean CARB legal. That would mean California only. I can't think of anything that would make it not street legal everywhere. You should make the third gauge that AEM wideband A/F gauge. AFAIK the GReddy ignition harness doesn't work with the 350Z ECU. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well yeah, on the outside of the shipping box it said NOT LEGAL FOR SALE OR USE IN CALIFORNIA OR ON EMMISSION CONTROLLED VEHICLES, maybe the note was for california. As for the gauges...im thinking about the blitz gauges with the blacklight, would probably look nice at night... I plan on taking out the factory Head Unit and spliting it, on the top some head unit, dont know what yet...and under that 3 sixty mm gauges.....i know A/f is good....but how about pressure? Wouldn't an EGT be good enough...i can find out if its running too lean by a high temp.

I'm not sure if you can fit 3 60 mm guage after installing a 1-din HU. I have an open pocket under my 1-din HU and am contemplating the same thing. If you do find a way post it up here so I can see if I can use it Thanks

yeah you're right...maybe ill have to shave them, and put them together...that might look dumb....guess ill just go with smaller gagues....or put them on the front left bar.....then theyd always be in my face...ill figure something out.

OK anyone....Id like some suggestions...3 gauges for the turbos in the lower half of a split head unit slot....possible?

I don't think 3 60mm gauges is possible in a din spot, I have 3 52 gauges and works out well.

No pics right now. I made it tonight and it's not mounted permanently right now (dash is apart) but should be by the end of the weekend, I did test fitting etc.. I just have 1 52mm gauge right now, it's a FJO wideband O2, but going to throw in a Defi FP and a J&S gauge when it comes, I did the test fitting with a friends gauges. It looks like this but I used sheet metal

yes it cames with everything it was supposed to come with...i just wanted to know why different boost levels were stated whether the kit had the intercooler or not. Oh...and by the way..im gonna go get a digital camera in a couple of days to take pics of the kit....im moved up the install date to this tuesday the 9th ...instead of next tuesday the 16th....im gonna have the mechanic take some good pics of the install while im gone...i'll put the best ones up.

When the turbo compresses the air, it heats it up. When your engine is running under boost, it runs hotter. So now you're pumping hot air, into a hotter engine and here is why there are two different boost levels. Without the intercooler, the compressed air is not being cooled which means you can only boost so much as your engine will be running hotter. With the intercooler, you can boost higher because the air is now being cooled before it enters the engine. Hope this explanation is clear enough. Have fun with those turbos !!!

i kneww the intercooler chilled the air and made it denser...but .15kg cm2 increase is a lot isnt it....im not sure..my first kit....that number just sounds like a lot to me.

bruschijr: make sure that the downpipes for the exhaust are not identical. One has to be for the driver side and the other has to be for the passenger side. I received 2 downpipes for the driver side and this is what might hold me back from getting it back. I called Greddy and they said that they ran out of them and that they had to get them shipped from japan. Fortunately, they told me that they had one of their techs making a replica for me. I might get it by monday. JUst make sure you check those 2 items out cause on the parts list, for some reason, they state 2 downpipes for the driver side. NOt sure y, probably just a typo. O yea on the intercooler manual it says that it can run .50-.60 of boost. Is this number already tuned as well? Can we just turn up the boost to that number with the boost controller and still run the car safe????
