Default Front-Mount Turbo Heating/Cooling Question

- My car is an 03 VQ, I've done my best to help the heat soak and keep my water temp down.
Radiator/Thermostat/Cooling Fans/Silicone Hoses/Pathfiner Cooling Mod/Heat-wraped all hot side pipping/Turbo blanket/Oil Cooler/Vented Hood

Quick question about front mount turbo cooling systems.

I understand with a f/m turbo kit, there is little to no room in the engine bay for heat to escape, but members with a front mount kit, how does your car preform for daily street / stop and go traffic?
I still find my water temp slowly climbing to above normal conditions when i am at stop/go traffic.
Any advice appericiated

Are you running an OEM front bumper? Easier said than done but it sounds like you need to maximize your air flow from your bumper intake through your radiators and out your hood.

Is your oil cooler infront of your IC or radiator? OEM radiator? OEM cooling fans?

OEM bumper yes with no grill inserts...
Mishimoto radiator/mishimoto cooling fans. Oil cooler is behind the IC but in front of the radiator..

Driving conditions it's perfectly fine... Stand still in traffic, the engine bay gets super hot

the OEM fans cool better than the mishimoto. Plus with an IC and oil cooler blocking airflow, its even more imprtant to have better fans.

I had a line bust leading to my oil cooler, which was mounted in the same location as yours.. Pretty noticeable difference once it was disconnected.

In my G I think I have room to relocate off to one side.

Worth a try...just cost a few bucks to fab up a bracket...as long as your feed/return lines still work.

Good luck

As a inexpensive start I would relocated your oil cooler to somewhere other than in-front of your radiator. You are pre-heating the air that passes through the radiator essentially making that area of your radiator useless.

because you are in New York / standstill traffic your cooling fans become more and more important.

Your exact problem happen to me awhile ago. I have the mishimoto fans w/ an upgraded spal fan as well as my oil cooler was behind the intercooler and in front of the radiator. I have a vortech basically in the same place as your turbo. I switched the oil cooler away from that spot and noticed my temps cooled down significantly.

Look up the TN install manual. It shows you how to move the stock oil cooler to the passenger wheel well without having to buy any new lines

You mean the stock power steering cooler? Because we don't have a stock oil cooler.

Is the car to the point of overheating when sitting still or just getting warmer than you'd like?

make sure your fans are working properly. I had a temp creep issue at stops along with crappy ac for the longest time until I had the fans replaced under warranty -- the fan warranty at least on 03/04 G's was extended to 100k. After that no creep issues and ac always blows cold. Funny thing is the fans were working... just not full speed i guess. The creep wasn't enough to budge the gauge but I could see it in the logs going over 200f and climbing.

Mishimoto fans? If so what did you say to them that made them send out new fans.

I noticed my ac is not blowing cold anymore.. And I get the creep as you mention, which raises my concern if oem is better then mishimoto ...
. Step one first, move oil cooler..
Thanks for the tip

Technically the 350z has an oil cooler but it's not what you'd expect...

you may consider a power steering cooler, in a 'what's good for the goose is good for the gander' sorta way

Sorry, I was referring to my OEM fans (along with a aftermarket PWR radiator).

OP,
figure a way to allow a stream of ambient air to your oil cooler. Do some research on the flow of you sandwich plate and ensure that oil flows into the cooler from the top and out of the cooler from the bottom.
