Default engine build question and opinion

Ok well I'm beginning a new build and I'm starting with the bottom end of my vq35de. Planning in doing .20 over cp pistons, carillo rods, acl bearings, Arp l19 bolts. I have a vortech supercharger that I run at 9 psi now on a stock motor and I put 400 whp now. I'm hoping to just increase boost on my vortech to 15 18 range and hope that will satisfy my need for speed. The shop I use to tune said I should sleeve my block if I want to push more than 600 whp (I know I won't do that with a vortech that's another conversation lol) but I'm wanting to build this to someday build the head turbo it and push 700-800 whp someday and don't want to have to redo the motor then. Do you think I should sleeve it or what is your guys opinion on that? The shop I use gave me a quote of 6500 for a built block using manley turbo tuff rods instead of carillo. I feel that's really expensive. Any thoughts? And anything else you think would be helpful advice please let me know. Thanks guys for the time!

Search around a bit, there are a few 600+ vortech guys out there. I'll be one of them after the retune with my new blower..

What shop are you using?

I was using slowmotion motprsports in Columbus Ohio but after 2 recent quotes that were outrageous I think I'll find a new shop.

Default built motor costs

The least expensive built motor is the one that lasts. Go with Dynosty in KY.

Dynosty does have a good reputation. Dont sleeve the block for under 1000HP... I bet they will tell you the same.

Dynosty probably has the best reputation around.

Considering that and I had more expensive quotes than a shipped price from Dynosty (I'm in California they're in Kentucky) than a race shop a mile away from my house, I wouldn't go any other way. Eddie used to build sprint cup motors. Tons of experience

Cut to the chase, sell the supercharger (I have nothing again superchargers - this isnt my point) and get a built block from Dynosty, IPP, Z1 as a crate motor and go directly to turbo. Sleeve the block only if your engine builder thinks it required for your goals (it's my opinion that this isnt necessary).

The reason I say go straight to turbo (if this is your ultimate goal) is because youre gonna waste time and money leap-frogging to a higher boost supercharger then on to a turbo setup. It's also my opinion that you should stick with/around 600whp...it gets awfully expensive and trouble-some past the 600whp.

to get your 600whp you're gonna spend $5-$8k on a built engine, $6k for your turbos/intercooler, $1-$2k for ECU/tuning, $3k misc/supporting mods...at the end of the day youre gonna be $15k-$20k into this - gotta pay if you want to play...
