Im lost but if I wanted that much power and an automatic transmission I think the engine and tranny swap is the way to go. However you could just run the auto till it gave up on you and then do the manual conversion. But the ls swap might be the better way to go.

I doubt you can reliably run anything much over 500 whp on the 5AT. I have tried. A few runs over 600 whp, maybe with a little slip on the dyno. The power curves are not reproducible because the clutches slip at high rpm. To my knowledge there is no upgrade to properly address (I believe the AT needs more line pressure at higher rpms and there is no fix for this).

5AT and 550 whp (if fully upgraded) probably ok. Anything over and you need a 6MT. That's 10k for the swap by the way so if you're really looking to do this and haven't started anything yet, just buy a 6MT and go from there.

My build was much higher than $50K, total, by the way. The transmission build was around 9k for a custom build.

RC Dash- I have way more than a few passes without issues, but I know it is not the norm. You have way more knowledge than I do, so if it doesn't seem feasible to you, I'd defer to your judgment.

dboyzalter- You cannot just ride out the factory transmission until it blows up. It will not even function properly with that much HP and TQ.

Thanks for clarification... I don't know anything about the automatic transmission, **** im not even confident using the sports mode on my wife's Camry because I think it's just asking for problems.

Would you guys agree that a engine and tranny swap while still pricey would be the more cost effective way of obtaining big hp? I mean the 1000 hp twin turbo ls swapped z was in the for sale section for $35000... No dowt has more then that into the car and he was still getting no real bites.

The problem with buying build cars is, you dont know the history. It couldve been a cheap hack job or it couldve been professionally build. Either way, its a problem and a headache for a lot of people.

For 35k you can get a decently used c6 z06, a shelby gt500, an older viper. All are already fast and gives you plenty piece of mind. Thats why its always hard to sell buikd cars. I doubt mine will fetch anything over 15k to be honest haha

MRG1981...I'd like to know who did your tranny build as my TT stroker will be limited to 12 psi=500-600 rwhp....I'd like to be able to push 750 w/o going to th400/4l80e, which would also be around 10-12k like a manual, but IMHO, better.

100k here..lol, yes will never get that back.....

I spent 2k to get my car in the 12's on the cheapest street tires I could find. This 2k includes tune/fuel management/turbo system.
Your argument is invalid.
35k for 400whp is retarded.
I could get a built motor for 3500 shipped from IPP and have 400whp for $5500 total, which you spent 35k for.. . smh. The car isn't worth putting that much money into.

You might think you win, but in the end I still have 33k left over in the bank that you threw away on a car worth only around 12k with your 35k in "upgrades"

I mean if i wanted cheap power from ebay parts id buy a 90s civic... but here i am... and im 95% certain that my car breaks more necks and probably sounds better than your 3k build, but im not here to measure edicks. Im just saying either do it right with quality parts or dont do it at all. Just my worthless .02
