Default NWP big throttle body on boosted car?

What do you guys think??

Looking at getting a NWP TB and doing some plenum mods.

Any one think there is any gains to be hard with this TB and basic plenum mods?

cheers

I can't recall any big builds running a larger throttle body. Probably better spending your money elsewhere.

Bigger TB doesn't do anything other than kill engine control. Makes the car harder to pedal, and makes the car "feel" more responsive. In reality it just sucks to drive. A buddy put a big TB on his 2j car, and it was just flat out jerky.

The stocker is not a limiting factor at all, so I wouldn't bother.

There's a little gain to be had with the NWP TB on a NA car but a waist of money if boosted

I have the NWP big bore throttle body kit and am boosted. After the install and retune I gained 20whp. My tuner and I were pretty surprised. The throttle response and idling is excellent and overall it was a worthy upgrade.

Dyno graphs?

Intake manifold?

Even then, there are a million and one ways to make something look like it gained power on the dyno, with a boosted car.

No offense, but you're going to have to back that up with more than just one of 9 posts. Especially considering how many cars run stock TB and make plenty of power.

There is this thread, https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/581782-my-nwp-75mm-throttle-body-upgrade-review-3.html

Just skimming through, it doesn't look like he ever posted dyno results.

Before NWP big bore throttle body. My rev limiter was raised.

After NWP throttle body. Rev limiter lowered. Increased power throughout the band.

Very hard to compare - one is with STD correction, the other SAE. You did seem to pick up some midrange torque but I'm going to have to say, having dyno'd my car myself dozens of times and looked at over 100 pulls, that the difference is within the margin of error for a FI car just between runs.

The feedback on good driveability and the possibility to pick up some midrange torque makes it a mod worth looking at I guess IF your stock TB goes bad. Not nearly enough difference for me to even consider, but maybe if I had it sitting on a shelf I might install it.

Yeah, my stock throttle body went bad and I was in need of a replacement. I researched the stock throttle bodies and found out that Hitachi no longer made them and the current manufacture was sub par. The NWP throttle body kit uses throttle bodies that are currently produced by Hitachi. For a $150 or so price difference, I made my decision based on quality plus I wanted to try something a little different. I did not purchase it for horsepower gains. After I installed it the car ran ok but not great. I brought it to my tuner and the car was running lean after the NWP throttle body install. After the retune, the car runs amazing. It pulls better than ever. I was just surprised that 1) the car ran leaner after the install, and 2) there was an improvement in the "after" dyno graph. I was a doubter of the NWP throttle body in the beginning and even thought it would be pointless for a retune. To my surprise...and my tuners...it did net gains and the car feels great. The throttle response just feels crisp.

Great feedback. Sounds like a good replacement option for flaky OEM throttle bodies.
