Thumbs up Dyno results for the SMT6

Here are the dynos from the install of the SMT6 and the a pulley swap.I had the 9lb pulley set from ATI and utilized only one of them.Meaning we used the pulley on the back of the blower only for about a 1/2 lb in boost difference..The first blue line represents the stock ATI pulley combo and no timing control..The second dyno in red you can see we lost a few PEAK hp due to pulling out some timing relative to boost in the upper psi range utilizing a MAP sensor. But look at the GAIN through the rpm range!!at 4000 rpm's we gained 61hp!!!!and an average of 30 hp through the rpm range...Keep in mind this was done with the 1 pulley and with some timing pulled up top to be safe.We experimented with the timing a bit and I hit 425rwhp uncorrected on one run but we decided to pull back the timing just in case and see how the car runs on the street for a while..I am going back in to him soon to get some more tuning as we are still experimenting with the tuning and want to see if a few weeks of running it changes anything on the dyno results.

Here is the TQ curve. This is where we were truly amazed and we arent finished tuning as you can see by the A/F is a little rich yet. But @ 3700rpms we gained 82TQ!!!!As you can see by the 2 dyno's the tuning of the SMT6 made the most difference rather than attributing all the gains to the pulley.Look at the gains in the 2000-4000 rpms range where boost is just starting to kick in...These results were amazing!!We will be doing more tuning in the near future and utilizing some race gas and playing with the timing and a/f some more..This was just to set the unit up and get it running..One thing we found is that by adding the 2nd half of the 9lb pulley we actually didnt gain anything..It definitely dumped more fuel in but we lost tq and hp cause we didnt want to lean it out any until we seen if the car runs well with this combo on the street..Bob Ida is a custom hot rod builder and has been tuning for 45+years and has a very scientific and cautious approach to tuning which I can admire and respect..We will continue to test the limits with the support of MRC motorsports(Jason) and Bob Ida of IDA automotive

why are you changing the pulley on the compressor?.......that pulley is a 22.....what did you change it to?

do you have a dyno showing 425rwhp?.......if i had one of those i would get it tattooed on my a$$

It was actually 388SEA and red 425 NON corrected..So its really not legit.. I posted the best increase in HP and TQ in the usable range since peak means nada...The compressor pulley was a 26 stock so I put the 25 on there...

Im sorry..I mean the compressor side, but the front pulleys..Not the actual pulley on the compressor..MY bad..The same pulley MAX changed..here is the dyno @384 SAE(i thought it was 388)..
for some reason I didnt run it up to 6800 rpms,I think I stopped at 6200 or something like that so on a later run I dont have i ran up to over 388+ and uncorrected it showed 425 but thats cheating...
For some reason the TQ was lower but the peak hp was higher..Id rather have the TQ so I went with the best tune for USEABLE hp not peak..

what are your plugs gapped at?.......you might be able to smooth out those lines by closing the gap........that jagged line looks like your getting spark blowout.........that AFR looks kinda rich in the midrange........you could get more useable power if got it closer to 11-12:1......unless this dyno precedes the other one, which shows that changes were made

That dyno was actually the first with the pulley on..Plugs are gapped around .35/37..I fouled out my first set last week by running so rich..

you might want to try a smaller gap

also.....why were they shutting down at 6400 rpms.......you might have gotten a little more HP if they took it up closer to the 6600 mark

I was thinking the same think about my plugs too , they are gapped at .37 I may lower this when I go to Irrad's we will see what the Dyno shows first. That jaggedy line is the same thing I got we thought was KR that turned out to be those cheap azz ZEX PLUGS!!!

Anyways you cleared up my pulley question about the 22 too so DaKing and I have roughly the same setup, now I need a secret weapon or something oh yeah I can drive better than him hahaha, just kidding J man it's all good and mucho congrats!!

Max,
Do you run Slicks or MT et's???If so How much air pressure should I run in a full slick and is the "sway" normal when running on slicks..The "Sway" I refer to is like a side to side rocking as I accelerate on them..Is that ok??PS my first set of plugs were gapped a little too much.40-44!!!I am probably closer to .35 now..

Well I hated that sway with Hoosier QTP's couldn't stand it. What size rim? I ran MT Streets not Drags at 18 PSI hot and went as low as 16 psi, Streets have a little tread just like Nitto Drag's to give you better traction. That sway has put many people into the wall and is why I hated them. My choice is a 16 in rim with Nitto 555R at 18 psi or MT Streets, not slicks.

I got 15" rims with Hoosier slicks...I do have 18" BF Goodrich DR's but They dont hook that well...
